Town Meeting update, Day Two

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Town Meeting 2012 adjourned last night and moved on to the Town
Elections this coming Saturday. Residents debated 60 articles and
brought one back up for reconsideration over the course of the past
two nights.

Among the items that generated discussion last night were: a failed
bid to approve the addition of fees for sellers of motor vehicles; an
unsuccessful attempt to rescind last year’s decision to tear down
Curtis School, and an aborted endeavor to reconsider Article 10, the
Omnibus Budget – with the hope of adding $90,000 from the defeat of
Article 24 into the education line of the town’s budget.

Congratulations to all of the town’s officials and volunteer board
members for their hard work and concerted efforts to make democracy
happen. And further congratulations to the town’s voters for spirited
debate regarding some challenging questions. Together we make this
town great!

Elections will be held this Saturday at Hanover High School. Don’t
forget to vote! The polls are open from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
