Garden Club plant sale

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
Walnut Hill Garden Club of Hanover will hold its traditional public plant
sale on Saturday, May 17, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Riley Hall at the
First Congregational Church located at 17 Silver Street (corner of Silver
and Hanover Streets). Co-presidents and sale organizers Tiziana Polizio
and Vera Anderson report that the sale will feature a vast selection of
plants from member gardens, all at affordable prices. Included for sun are
colorful daylilies, iris, Shasta daisies, ornamental grasses; hosta,
astilbe and other hardy plants for shade; plus ground covers, shrubs and
more. Also new to the plant sale this year, as a special purchase item,
will be succulent planters and herb gardens.

Attending the plant sale has become a tradition for many Hanover residents.
Early shoppers line up before the doors to the sale open. Club members
have been busy over the last few weeks digging and dividing plants in
members’ gardens to ensure that a large selection of hardy local plants
will be available at the sale. Members of the club will be available
during the sale to answer any questions shoppers have about the different
variety of plants on sale.

This is the fifth time the Walnut Hill sale will be held at the First
Congregational Church’s Riley Hall. Shoppers should come early for the
best selection, and it is recommended they bring plant trays, crates and
boxes to carry purchases home.

Proceeds from the sales will benefit Hanover beautification projects, such
as the traffic islands.
