Rebecca Stetson 1786 tea program

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
The Hanover Historical Society is pleased to announce they will be having
four free historic “foodways” programs for children this summer as part
of the Society’s Year of Hearth and Home. The first program will be held
Wednesday June 25th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Stetson House Museum.

The first program will be the Society’s third annual Rebecca Stetson 1786
Tea. Guests will travel back in time to 1786, and imagine they are invited
by 10-year-old Rebecca Stetson to taste some historic recipes. They will
learn about the culture of tea and trade in the maritime era. Rebecca
Stetson was an actual American girl who grew up in the Stetson House right
after the American Revolution. Guests will learn about the daily life in
Hanover during the Era of the New Republic (1775-1830), and will have the
chance to have the name of a character of a real Hanoverian who lived in
1786! Tea will be held on the grounds (weather permitting) or in their
inside the historic barn.

The event is from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., June 25th. Please call 781-826-9575,
or e-mail Hanoverhistoricalsociety@gmail.com to reserve a spot. Seats are
limited to 30 children per session, so please plan ahead! The program is
free to the public (voluntary donations accepted). The program is paid for
by Eastern Bank and the Education Fund at the Hanover Historical Society.
