Special Town Meeting regarding the Center School Addition

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Some of you reading this e-mail have been waiting for this question to be
put back on a warrant for 14 years. Others of you are reading about this
project for the first time. Regardless of your perspective, this Monday’s
Special Town Meeting is an important milestone in our town’s legislative
history that deserves your attention today.

Most importantly, the Special Town Meeting will be held at Hanover High
School on Monday, September 26th beginning at 7:00 p.m. You are encouraged
to get there 15-30 minutes early so that parking will be easy and check-in
lines will move smoothly. Further, members of the HHS National Honor
Society and the HHS Student Council will be providing free childcare
beginning at 6:30 p.m. and lasting until the meeting is over for those who
need it. Meet them in the Media Center on the first floor of the high
school. Everyone – please get there in plenty of time and help us to avoid
check-in lines at 6:55 p.m.!

On the warrant is a brief “prior year bills” question, followed by the
long-awaited override question for the Center School addition project.
Here is the link to the warrant:

. The Advisory Committee met Thursday night and their affirmative
recommendation on Article Two and related commentary is attached to this
e-mail.

Become an informed voter! There is quite a bit of information out there
that you can read or watch in order to become informed about the project.
Go to this section of the Hanover School’s website for more detailed
information: http://www.hanoverschools.org/future/ .

Additionally, there is a Municipal Ballot Question Committee that has been
formed recently and that is actively supporting the project. Their website
may be found here: http://www.yestohanoverschool.com/ . I am not
currently aware of an organized group advocating against the project, but
there has been some confusion regarding the “No on 2” Charter School signs
that are already up in anticipation of the November ballot question.

Remember that this is a two-part vote – first on Monday, September 26th,
followed by a vote at the polls on Saturday, October 1st. More details
about Saturday October 1st will follow in this space after Monday September
26th’s Special Town Meeting. See you there!
