Make a difference for the homeless

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

In 2019, homelessness in Massachusetts increased by approximately 14
percent, and by 20.6 percent since 2010. Plymouth County is not immune to
the rising challenges of homelessness.

October 24th is National Make A Difference Day. To help address one of the
many needs recognized by the Plymouth Area Coalition for the Homeless, the
members of Altrusa of Plymouth County are sponsoring a collection of new
sweaters and sweatshirts. The goal is to collect 500 sweaters or
sweatshirts to distribute to those who need them. And, they are asking
those in Plymouth County who can help, to please do so. We can all make a
difference.
This is one of Altrusa’s flagship events this year. Despite the global
pandemic affecting how we all operate, Altrusa members felt it was
especially important to support the homeless as cooler temperatures are
here.

Please donate to the Altrusa Sweater/Sweatshirt Drive for the Plymouth Area
Coalition for the Homeless
Please bring a new sweater, sweatshirt, fleece, or jacket for teens, adults
or children. Make sure the sweater has tags still on it and is sealed in a
clear plastic bag. (Please do not buy items with wording or inappropriate
graphics.)
When: Saturday, October 24, 2020
Time: 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Where: Hanover Town Hall, side parking lot, 550 Hanover Street

COVID procedures – contactless collection:
• You will remain in your car, mask on.
• An Altrusa member will greet you in the parking lot. With mask and
gloves.
• You will place your donation (in a sealed, clear plastic bag) in a box
or bag from your car window. No need to get out of the car.

It’s important for our community to come together, especially in time of
greater need. This is one effort that will be meaningful to so many.
Bring a little extra warmth to those in our county who need extra help on
National Make a Difference Day.
