Learn soccer from two of Hanover’s finest

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

If you don’t know Ryan and Matt Shea…or the Shea Family of Hanover…you are missing out!  I have had the good fortune of knowing the Sheas for years and watching the twins grow into delightful, bright, earnest young men…who also happen to be two of the best soccer players EVER to come out of Hanover High School.  Matt and Ryan currently play Division One soccer for Boston University, and they are also products of the Massachusetts Premier Soccer Club team system.  Their soccer training and rapport with children (Ryan was my daughter’s favorite Park and Rec counselor…so I have the inside scoop!) is outstanding.  I am therefore pleased to include the following information regarding their Town of Hanover Parks and Recreation/Champion Soccer Camp for your consideration:

For the third straight year, Matthew and Ryan Shea will be hosting the Champion Soccer Camp. Unlike past years, the Champion Soccer Camp is now an official partner of the Hanover Park and Rec program. The camp aims to improve the players’ understanding of the game while helping them mature as both players and people.

The camp will begin in late May and run through late July. The camp’s duration will be 10 weeks and will be broken up into two sessions. Players are encouraged to attend both sessions for maximum development. Players who sign up to attend both sessions will also receive a significant discount. Training sessions each week will be held on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, lasting from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The dates and fees of the camp’s sessions are as follows:

Session 1: May 18th – June 19th (Held at B. Everett Hall Field)

  • Session 1 includes five weeks of training for a total of 15 training sessions and 22.5 hours of instruction.
  • The cost of attending Session 1 is $205.00 (~$9/hr)

Session 2: June 22nd – July 24th (Held at Myrtle Field)

  • Session 2 includes five weeks of training for a total of 15 training sessions and 22.5 hours of instruction.
  • The cost of attending Session 2 is $205.00 (~$9/hr)

Session 1 & 2: May 18th – July 24th (Held at B. Everett Hall Field and Myrtle Field)

  • Attending both sessions includes ten weeks of training for a total of 30 training sessions and 45 hours of instruction.
  • The cost for attending both sessions is $360.00 ($8/hr)
  •
    • You save $50.00 when signing up for both camp sessions

However, due to conflicts with other sports, parents can sign their children up for the camp under the following plans for Session 1 & 2:

2-Day Planplayers attend any 2 training sessions out of the 3 offered a week. They receive 10 training sessions and 15 total hours of training. The cost for this plan is $135.00

1-Day Planplayers attend any 1 training sessions out of the 3 offered a week. They receive 5 training sessions and 7.5 total hours of training. The cost for this plan is $70.00

****(Please contact us with any questions regarding payments for each of the sessions. We can work out costs and help parents so that they will only pay for the number of sessions your child can attend each week/session!)****

The Champion Soccer Camp will also be divided into two age groups. The age groups are as follows:

Ages 7-10:

  • Players going into 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade

Ages 11-14:

  • Players going into 6th, 7th and 8th grade

The players are required to wear a white t-shirt to the practices, shin-guards (under their socks!), socks and soccer cleats. Players can bring an inflated soccer ball of their choice, but are not required to do so. Champion Soccer Camp T-Shirts will be given to players in the opening week of the camp as well.

Also, if you believe that your child is too young or too inexperienced, let us know and we will be glad to do individual training sessions. Some young players feel uncomfortable playing with older and more experienced players. Individual training sessions will allow these players to establish the necessary comfort zone in order to improve. The fee for individual training will be fair and will depend upon the amount of hours a week you wish to have your child train.

We have not forgotten our roots after carrying our soccer careers to Boston University, where we compete on the NCAA Division 1 level. We appreciate all the HYAA program has given us, and we hope to show our gratitude by giving back. We enjoy coaching and wish to provide the players with the great experience we had.
