Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Town of Hanover will honor and remember the courageous men and women
who made the ultimate sacrifice for our beloved nation on Monday, May 29,
2023. The Annual Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is a time-honored
tradition that embodies the true spirit of patriotism and unity.

Hanover’s Memorial Day Parade is scheduled to start promptly at 10:00 a.m.
at Saint Mary’s Church, 392 Hanover Street. The parade will commence with
the stirring sound of the Hanover High School Marching Band resonating
through the streets of Hanover Center. Once at Hanover Center Cemetery,
those in attendance will honor and memorialize various veterans’ plots,
including the Josselyn and Cummings World War I memorial, the Tomb of the
Unknown Soldier, the police and fire deceased memorials, and the American
Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars memorials. Following that, the parade
will march toward the Civil War Memorial (by the cannons across from Town
Hall). There, marchers will memorialize the Civil War as well as the
Korean, Vietnam, and World War II veterans. The parade will then proceed to
the Sylvester School building, where they will memorialize World War I
soldiers, and then end at the Hanover Veterans Memorial.

The Ceremony following the Memorial Day Parade will begin at the Veterans
Memorial, located at 495 Hanover Street. The ceremony includes an opening
prayer, remarks from our veterans, and a roll call while laying a wreath.
The event will be a testament to the enduring gratitude and deep respect
that Hanover holds for those who have given everything for our freedom.

This Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is an opportunity for residents of
the town to come together as a community, to remember, and to honor.
Parking is available at the Veterans Memorial, located next to B. Everett
Hall Field, Saint Mary’s Church, and Center School.
