Stories from the Revolution: Hanover in the War for Independence

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Stories from the Revolution: Hanover in the War for Independence
with Stephen O’Neill, Executive Director, Hanover Historical Society

6:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 16th, 2024
The John Curtis Free Library, 534 Hanover Street

This program, in honor of the 250th Anniversary of the American
Revolutionary War, tells the story of Hanover and its residents during the
conflict. Stories from the Revolution uses original objects and documents
from the Historical Society’s and other collections to illustrate how the
War changed the lives of the people of Hanover. These are the stories of
one town supporting the Patriot cause, a colonel who commanded a regiment
through five years of warfare, a family that faced disease and struggle, a
former slave who won his freedom, common soldiers who answered the call to
service, some of whom never returned, and a general Town Meeting that voted
in favor of Independence.

Sponsored by the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati
