Dear fellow Hanoverians:
By now many of you have heard or seen this on the
news. I was out in Lancaster for the weekend and heard it out
there! But, in case you have not, I thought it bears mentioning =
since the
kids just got out of school this past week. Send them out to play, =
but
keep an eye on them! Congratulations to the Hanover Police for =
their quick
response and actions that certainly prevented further harm to a young =
Hanover
girl. Thanks to Channel 7 News for the following information from =
an
incident that occurred yesterday:
HANOVER,
Mass. — Police say a 6-year-old girl was kidnapped, shackled, and =
nearly raped
by a neighbor that lives several doors down from her Hanover =
apartment. The
girl, whose name is not being released, escaped from the suspect’s =
apartment. Her
mother reported her missing at 1:30 p.m., telling authorities she had =
left to
ride her bike around their Franks Lane apartment =
complex.
Officers
immediately began a door-to-door search throughout the complex. Police =
then
discovered the child moments later after she escaped the apartment of =
her
alleged 26-year-old captor, neighbor Justin Shine. Police say =
there was
blood on her arms and she was wearing shackles.
Shine
will face charges including kidnapping and attempted rape when he is =
arraigned
in court on Monday. Shine was transported to the hospital after a =
brief
struggle with police during his arrest. His injuries were reportedly
self-inflicted.
