Friendship and Cliques program at the library

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Friends of the John Curtis Free Library are hosting a workshop for
parents of girls on Saturday, October 3, from 2 – 4:30 p.m. at the library.
Cyndi Denmat, a workshop leader and parenting consultant
(www.raisinggirls.org), will lead "Friendship and Cliques: A Primer for
Parents" with a question and answer time at the end. This program hopes to
help parents understand the nature of cliques which can so affect preteen
girls. Learn about the social function of cliques, the roles girls play in
cliques, and what to do when cliques turn negative. This workshop provides
parents specific techniques on how to coach their daughter effectively and
compassionately when she faces negative group behavior. Cyndi Denmat earned
her M.Ed. from Lesley University and is an adjunct faculty member at Lesley
University. She is the founding director of Empowering Mothers of America,
a parenting consulting organization. This event is funded entirely by the
Friends and will be FREE of charge to all participants. Tickets are
required and limited to 100 people. Please get them at the children’s
circulation desk now.
