Remove Hackett’s Pond dam?

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Hanover Community Preservation Committee has recently recommended
funding for the Hackett’s Pond Dam restoration. The North South River
Watershed Association would like the opportunity to discuss the issue of dam
removal and river restoration with the committee and with any interested
residents. As part of their discussion, Beth Lambert, River Restoration
Program Manager with the Division of Ecological Restoration at the Mass
Dept. of Fish and Game, will be giving a presentation on dam removal in
Massachusetts. Beth is currently working to help restore many rivers in
Massachusetts including the Billington Street Dam at Town Brook in Plymouth.
Beth will have photos of the areas before and after dams are removed and
will be able to answer question on the impact of dam removal on communities
and the benefits of dam removal to the health of streams and rivers.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday April 14, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the
first floor hearing room at Town Hall. Mark your calendars as this is the
only e-mail you will receive about this meeting. This meeting is open to
the public as required by law. If you have any questions, please contact
Margaret Hoffman, Community Preservation Coordinator, at
communitypreservation@hanover-ma.gov or by phone at 781-826-7730.
