Good news despite all the rain

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

I suppose that I could not let this spring’s torrential rains go unnoticed
by "Around Town on the Web". The temporary closure of King Street, the
flooding of neighborhood ponds and the creation of ponds in places where
they had never been previously, and the hundreds of basements in Hanover
that are still trying to dry out are certainly all newsworthy. But, I try
to avoid a negative vibe.

So, in my continual efforts to shout good news for Hanover residents from
the rooftops, I am pleased to mention the decision by the IRS to postpone
the deadline for filing 2009 individual income tax returns, making income
tax payments, and making 2009 contributions to an individual retirement
account for residents of Hanover. This is in response to the President’s
decision to declare several counties in Massachusetts federal disaster
areas.

The complete notice from the IRS may be found here:
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id"0830,00.html . The new deadline
is May 11th. So go finish pumping out your basement; the taxes can wait!
