Annual Town Meeting wraps up for 2019

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover’s Annual Town Meeting was dissolved this evening (Monday as I write
this), but not before we agreed to petition the General Court for 13
additional liquor licenses for Hanover Crossing, and discussed the
possibility of reconsidering our approval of Article 36 regarding the
Sylvester School.

The Sylvester School article discussion dominated the evening, but
ultimately, the two-thirds majority needed to reconsider our actions from
last Monday was not achieved. In the meantime, the Selectmen have voted to
cancel the current RFP that was responded to by Hanover’s own Dave
Traggorth and the Traggorth Companies. Town Meeting’s actions from last
week under Article 35 and 36 stand, include the decision to sell or
otherwise dispose of the Sylvester School, and are described in more detail
here:
https://www.hanover-ma.gov/sites/hanoverma/files/uploads/2019_-_special_annual_town_meeting_warrant_-_final_for_website.pdf
.

Thank you to the good people of Hanover for the lively and engaging debate
of these issues! Your participation is appreciated! Particular thanks to
the Advisory Committee for their consideration of these issues and their
related recommendations on Town Meeting floor. The hundreds of hours they
spend behind the scenes in preparation for Town Meeting are without
comparison.

See you next year! Mark your calendar now for the first Monday in May –
May 4, 2020!

Safe Grad Night needs you!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Calling all Night Owls, Insomniacs and those of you who simply want to help
out… Safe Grad Night NEEDS YOU!

Safe Grad All Night Party takes place at the University Sports Complex the
same evening as graduation on May 31st, giving the graduates one last
hurrah with their classmates in a safe, supervised setting.

Parents with children of any age are encouraged to chaperone the event.
There are two shifts available: 11:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. –

free T-Shirt). Get together a group of your friends and come have some fun
with the Class of 2019!

Safe Grad Night (SGN) can’t do this without your help!

The University Sports Complex has provided SGN with the use of their

with SGN to serve food and drink.

They’ve booked a DJ, a Football Challenge bouncy in memory of Coach Mark

Volleyball/Basketball/Dodgeball, arts and crafts, and a lounge area to
regroup and recharge.

Dancing, Games and Food – the recipe for a great time! Please come join

Your Town Clerk says thanks

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Simply put, thank you. I am humbled to have been re-elected to serve as
your Town Clerk for another three year term. I pledge to uphold the
mandate you have given me (by a 2 to 1 margin at the polls!) with integrity
and honor, as has always been the case.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to my campaign team, whether you
heard from me daily or simply hosted a lawn sign. Your sincere
endorsements and unrivaled support mean the world to me, and helped us all
to see the good that is truly in Hanover.

Since I stepped away from running this election so that there would be no
appearance of a conflict of interest, I am surprised to find myself without
exact numbers to report on ATOTW the day after an election. :) These past
few months have been extraordinary for me in so many ways, so I suppose
this is no exception! What is not a surprise is that I woke up this
morning looking forward to getting back to work, and to serving you again
for another three years. Thank you for this gift.

And in the meantime, Happy Mother’s Day to all who join me in celebrating!
