Town Meeting update

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover’s Annual Town Meeting adjourned Monday night after 36 of the 43
articles had been considered. Among other business, Town Meeting decided
to allow the Selectmen to dispose of the Sylvester School property via a
letter of agreement with the Traggorth Company, appropriated funds for new
tennis courts at Hanover High School, and amended the Town’s bylaws to
restrict future automatic water irrigation systems.

The Special Town Meeting to conclude FY’19 business opened and finished
business in just 8 minutes.

We will reconvene for the Annual Town Election on Saturday, May 11th from
8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and then again for the Annual Town Meeting at 7:00
p.m. on Monday, May 13th at Hanover High School. For more information,

Open Space Committee Trail Walk

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Trail walk – Saturday, May 11 at 10:00 a.m.

Please join the Hanover Open Space Committee for a springtime walk at the
Shinglemill Brook property in North Hanover. We will travel approximately
two miles round trip. This will be our inaugural walk over two great new
bridges installed as an Eagle Scout project by Scout Alex Jasie. The
property features uplands, wetlands, and two neat drumlins (one of which is
believed to be the highest point in Hanover). We will start our walk at
10:00 a.m. at the Virginia Drive entrance (off Whiting Street). Parking
is available on Virginia Drive. Sturdy hiking shoes and insect repellent
is advised. Maps and more information are both available at
www.hanover-ma.gov/open-space-committee, or you may contact
hanovertrailwalkers@gmail.com.

Postal Workers’ Annual Food Drive

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Postal Workers’ Annual Food Drive is almost here again! This year it
will be held Saturday, May 11, 2019. There will be a combination of food
drive volunteers and postal service workers making the rounds. The Hanover
Food Pantry is in need of volunteers on that day again this year. What
better way to support residents of our town in need? Please consider
volunteering at the food pantry! It is also a great way for those who need
service hours to accrue some time for a good cause.

The Hanover Food Pantry will need:
• Drivers (beginning as early as noon or anytime up to 4:00 p.m.) to go
out to meet postal trucks to offload gathered food to deliver to the
pantry. Your help will be appreciated.

• Sorters to be stationed at the pantry beginning at 12:30 in two hour
shifts up to 4:30 p.m. Feel free to stay as long as you like. The food
pantry will supply water, soda, coffee or tea and snacks along with hard
work and a good time.

Anyone wishing to volunteer to drive and pick up or sort donations can do
so by e-mailing Food Pantry President Sally Lovett Boutin at
kidsense@comcast.net or calling her at 781-826-6485, or on her cell at
781-799-0053 (texting also available).

Remember that all collected food stocks the shelves of our very own Hanover
Food Pantry for our friends and neighbors in need. The food that is
gathered each year at the Postal Workers Annual Food Drive sees those in
need through the summer when the churches, civic organizations, schools and
other groups stop or slow their regular collections. Your support will be
greatly appreciated.

Regardless of your ability to volunteer to help that day, please don’t
forget to donate your food to the town-wide drive on May 11th!

Hanover Spring Cleaning 2019

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Spring Cleaning 2019

On Saturday, June 1st, there will be a town wide clean up of the trash
along our streets. Now that the snow has melted (and is hopefully gone for
good), we need your help to remove the trash that has built up since the
fall. We have a beautiful town and we want to keep it that way. Join us
in this great community event. Meet your neighbors. Enjoy being outdoors.
Take in some sun (hopefully). And help us “Make Hanover Clean Again!”

How it works:
1) Decide to participate in Hanover Spring Cleaning!
2) If you are on Facebook, “like” the Hanover Spring Cleaning Facebook
page and share it with your friends:
https://www.facebook.com/hanoverspringcleaning/?modal=admin_todo_tour
2) Register yourself and any family members at
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/9CZCF92
3) When you register, you will be asked if you want to clean just your
street, a community area, or both – and for your t-shirt sizes.
4) On June 1st there will be a central location where we will be giving out
brightly colored t-shirts, garbage bags for trash and recyclables and
gloves.
5) If you choose to clean a community area, we will have a designated time
slot for each area to help with traffic control in the area during that
time.
