Impact of level funding on the Town of Hanover in FY’26

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The day before the State Election, while yours truly was putting the
finishing touches on the Hanover High School gymnasium polling place, the
Town Manager and Select Board were eyeing the impact of level funding on
Town services in Fiscal Year ’26. Lest that important information get lost
in my shuffle, I offer it here, now, and as a follow-up to the previously
outlined impacts of level funding on the Hanover Schools in FY’26. (Please
refer to the “Around Town on the Web” archives found here:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=1C84mEdsFs+3kfg5t6GEghvVslM6r2Vum4ZLc4A8U+loqLt7nDPYRqoN783ZLADJ
to review the School information.)

There is an attachment to this e-mail – a list of the possible impacts on
Town services as taken directly from the November 4th presentation by the
Town Manager to the Select Board. Additionally, I encourage you to review
the PowerPoint document found here:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=9e46uMLMbHSJpZZirea0zBvVslM6r3Vum4ZLc4A8U+loqLt7nDPYRqoN783ZLADJ
, which is the second presentation by the Town Manager to the Select Board
that was delivered a couple of weeks later.

One of the first steps we as a community will be able to take will be a
review of the Transfer Station funding source at the Special Town Meeting
of December 9th. Stay tuned for more information about that meeting. Your
attendance is encouraged!

New England Ringers come to the First Congregational Church

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Christmas Bells Are Ringing-Again!
Sunday, December 1, 2024, 4:00 p.m.
at Hanover’s First Congregational Church

The First Congregational Church of Hanover is once again honored to be
hosting the celebrated bell choir New England Ringers as they present a
holiday concert – 2024 A Christmas Playlist. The concert will take place
in their sanctuary on Sunday, December 1, at 4:00 p.m. The performers of
New England Ringers are widely recognized in the Northeast for their
excellent presentations. This seasonal concert will feature exciting
arrangements of Christmas carols (many traditional, and a few less
familiar) all creatively arranged for bells. In addition to the printed
program notes, ringers will briefly introduce each selection. If you
attended their 2022 concert here, you know they’ll be superb!

What a festive way to begin December and to celebrate the first Sunday of
Advent! Reserve the date, bring family and friends, and rejoice with the
bells—
See the attached flyer or contact the First Congregational Church office
for more details at 781-826-4762 or Bob Sigsby at bob@sigsby.com .

Indian Head River Walk – November 30

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Indian Head River Walk – November 30

Walk off some of those Thanksgiving calories with the Open Space Committee
on the Indian Head River trail system. They’ll meet on Saturday,
November 30th at 9:30 a.m. at the Ludden’s Ford parking area. Our guided
walk will begin on the Pembroke/Hanson side of the river on Wildlands
Trust’s Tucker Preserve, cross the river on Broadway, and return on the
Hanover side. Round trip is approximately 4 miles. Uneven terrain and
some ups and downs on the Tucker Preserve, with a flatter return on the old
rail bed in Hanover. They suggest sturdy hiking shoes. Bring water. This
is a beautiful walk alongside the Indian Head River, with overlooks and
close-ups. For more information, contact hanovertrailwalkers@gmail.com.
