This just in from two Hanover National Honor Society students!

Who: Daniel Freedman and Ronan Blum, both juniors at Hanover High School,
are holding an item drive to support the Friday Night Supper Program.

What: New or gently used adult gloves, hand warmers, new or gently used
used boots, and toiletries/personal items including razors, shaving cream,
hand lotion, soap, and underwear

Message: They’ve chosen to support the Friday Night Supper Program. This
program provides meals and much needed items to the homeless.

How: A collection bin will be available at Town Hall from 11/24-12/14 and
at Hanover High, Hanover Middle, Center School, and Sylvester School from
12/1-12/15. There is also an Amazon wish list. Items can be purchased
directly through that site and will go directly to the organization if
ordered through Amazon or people can have them sent to their home and drop
in any of the bins. Items can also be placed in a bin outside of 27 Birch
Drive starting 12/1.

Where:
1. Drop at 27 Birch Drive in collection bin 11/24-12/14
2. Drop at Town Hall 11/24-12/14
3. Send items in with your student to any of the four schools 12/1-12/15.
(Bins will be outside of the office at each school)
4. Order from the Amazon Wish List and have items sent directly to the
organization or have them sent to your home and drop in any of the
designated collection bins during the designated time frames. Wish list

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

You may remember an Around Town on the Web e-blast from about a month ago
on behalf of the Hanover Woman’s Club that suggested that residents shine
green outdoor light bulbs to show our support of our veterans here in
Hanover. The good folks at Hanover Crossing took that support to a whole
different level by displaying these same green bulbs all over the new
buildings at the former mall location.

I am delighted to share some photos, as attached.

This just in from Hanover High students Lexie and Kasey Schiller and their
mom Erin! This is Lexie and Kasey’s second year helping with the Father
Bill’s wish list – Hanover is proud of you two!

Who: Lexie and Kasey Schiller

What: Father Bill’s and MainSpring Wish List (see attached)

Message: Do you ever find brand new things, still wrapped up with the tags
still on them in your closets? Maybe it’s a shower curtain liner you will
never use because you have a shower door now; twin sheet sets for your
children’s beds only they don’t have twin beds anymore. Maybe it’s a
pair of shoes purchased on a whim that you have never worn or a sweater
from your mother-in-law that you could never bring yourself to wear! It
feels great to de-clutter your house of this stuff, but it feels even more
GREAT when you know that there are people in need that will truly benefit
from them. Please consider donating your new/un-used items OR make a small
donation to help Lexie and Kasey fulfill the attached wish list for Father
Bill’s and MainSpring.

Where: John Curtis Library or Venmo

How: Two ways from now until January 25th:
1. Drop off new/unused items in the bin at John Curtis Library in Hanover
2. Venmo donation to purchase items @lexie-schiller-2 (placing Father
Bill’s in notation)

Why: To provide help and hope to individuals and families facing a housing
crisis on the South Shore and across Southern Massachusetts.

This just in from Food Pantry President Sally Boutin! Due to the upcoming
holiday, the Hanover Food Pantry will be closed on Wednesday, November 26,
2025. But, as usual, they are open Monday morning, November 24, 2025, for
intake of contributions from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. from those wishing to
donate.

For those seeking assistance, the Food Pantry will be open on Monday,
November 24, 2025, before Thanksgiving, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. for food
distribution. They will also be open THIS Saturday, November 22. The pantry
Saturday hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The pantry will be closed
the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 29, 2025. Thank you for your
understanding.

The good folks at the Hanover Food Pantry are in the meantime sending a
huge thank you to all Hanover residents who have donated to the Pantry
during the recent food crisis. The schools, scouts, clubs, civic groups,
churches, businesses, children holding private collections and individual
residents have shown an amazing outpouring of love and care that is
unmatched in Pantry history. The food pantry volunteer staff have been
totally overwhelmed by the generosity of this town. They are so proud to be
able to serve our town’s clients with all the kindness and support that has
been offered. We are taking care of our own residents beautifully. Thank
you Hanover from all of the volunteers at the pantry.

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church is having their annual Holiday Fair this
Friday, November 21, 2025, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, November 22,
2025, 10:00 – 2:00 p.m.

There will be raffles, baskets, jewelry, toys, crafts, a holiday room,
Grandma’s attic and they are also offering delicious items at the bake
table and the ever famous St. Andrew’s Cafe. There will be several
activities for children as well.

All proceeds directly benefit the church and help them to continue their
ongoing ministries and outreach programs. Join them for many beautiful
items for sale, delightful food, and treats.

It will be held in the Parish Hall located in Hanover Four Corners, 17
Church Street, Hanover. Please use parking lot located behind the church.
The parking lot entrance is off Rockland Street. (The church shares parking
lot space with Rockland Trust, the Social Security Office and Cardinal
Cushing classrooms.) There are stairs from the parking lot to the back of
the parish hall. There will be parking signs at the street entrance on that
day.

The Lutheran Church of the Cross is thrilled to announce a free family
concert, COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS CONCERT to celebrate the joy of music this
holiday season. The concert will be on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at
2:00 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross, located at 77 Rockland Street.
The concert is their gift to the community and will feature festive music
with traditional Christmas Carols and contemporary holiday tunes to
entertain all ages.

They are pleased to present “The Victorian Carolers of Boston,” a
well-known professional a Capella quartet, who dress in mid-19th century
(1840’s to 1860’s) clothing. The quartet has been together for many
years and performs all over New England throughout the year. Director and
leader of the quartet Danny Bolton explained, “Our quartet loves to sing
and bring the joy of music to everyone, but Christmas time is our
favorite.”

Also performing is 12-year-old Miguel Ferreira. Miguel taught himself and
began playing the piano at an extremely early age; after church service he
would play the piano in the social hall. With consistent practice and
self-study, everyone witnessed Miguel’s talent grow. Miguel was looking
for a new challenge and so he mastered playing the organ. His mastery of
the organ seems effortless, and everyone, including experienced
professional musicians, music teachers and audiences, are in awe during his
performances. He recently performed a two-hour organ concert at the
Lutheran Church of the Cross consisting of all Bach compositions to raise
funds for a young five-year-old with cancer.

Matt MacDougall grew up singing in the children, youth, and adult choirs of
the Lutheran Church of the Cross, and will be the tenor soloist. Male tenor
soloists possess the highest male singing voices and are in demand by
choirs and professional operas due to their rarity. Matt’s voice is known
for its power and bright, resonant high notes. With a strong background and
study of music, he is still passionately active in the music scene and will
be returning to his hometown church for this concert to the delight of all.

The concert will include a short intermission with light refreshments in
the social hall. There will be opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for a
Thanksgiving basket or a ticket for their Christmas Festival Raffle with
three great prizes.
Celebrate the season of hope, peace, love and joy with the music of
talented local artists and musicians. Let the COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS

Halloween Candy Drive for the Troops!
Let Troop 82282 help you get rid of that leftover Halloween candy! Hanover
Girl Scout Troop 82282 is hosting their annual Halloween Candy Drive again
this year! The girls will package up all donated candy and bring to
Carepacks Inc., an organization based out of Weymouth that sends care
packages to deployed troops throughout the world. They encourage you to
send them your Halloween leftovers and make a donation to the Food Pantry,
in place of purchasing additional candy to donate!

When: Collecting donations from 10/31-11/8

Where: Leave donations in orange bins outside Sing Explore Create, 33
Rockland Street, Hanover

What: Accepting donations of candy (get rid of those Halloween leftovers!).
Candy should be individually wrapped, but sending along a random assortment
of trick or treat candy is welcome and encouraged! For example, does not
need to be an unopened bag of fun size candy bars, but can be the few you
may have leftover. They will be bagging and packaging it all up.
