Dear fellow Hanoverians:

At the December 2, 2024, meeting of the Hanover Select Board, the Select
Board voted to open the 2025 Annual and Special Town Meeting Warrants and
to accept articles. Articles for the 2025 Annual Town Meeting Warrant
shall be accepted until 12:00 noon on Monday, January 27, 2025, and
Articles for the 2025 Special Town Meeting Warrant shall be accepted until
12:00 noon on Monday, February 24, 2025.

If the article you are submitting is from a Board, Commission, Trust, or
Committee, please be sure the Board, Commission, Trust, or Committee’s
minutes reflect the vote in support of the article. Articles must be
submitted in final form for inclusion in the warrant, using Word format,
Times New Roman font size 12 without track changes, special formatting,
headers, or footers. Please note the Warrant is only printed in black and
red print. Do not include any other colors in your article.

Please submit articles to Janet Tierney at janet.tierney@hanover-ma.gov. As
always, please submit articles of genuine necessity, considering budget
limitations. Any ballot questions (including Proposition 2 ½ overrides)
should be submitted by the January 27, 2025, deadline noted above.

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Cub Scout Pack 37 will be out on the morning of Saturday, January 4, 2025
to pick up Christmas tree. If you would like your tree taken away, sign up
today and please have your tree and donation on the sidewalk before 8:00
a.m. on 1/4/25. You may leave cash or check (payable to Pack 37) on the
tree in a Ziploc bag or in your mailbox in an envelope. The suggested
donation is $10-$15 and this money funds a majority of the pack expenses
for the year.

The Cub Scout motto is “Do your best.” If they miss your tree on the day of
the event or make another mistake, please let them know and they will fix

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Please help Hanover High Junior Paisley Stevens and Hanover Schools win the
coat drive contest sponsored by Anton’s Cleaners, Jordan’s Furniture and
Enterprise Bank! Hanover is currently in second place and needs help from
Hanover residents to bring us to #1! The winner of the coat drive contest
gets $2,000 for our schools. Paisley and her family are collecting new or
used coats from size infant to adult. Coats can be dropped off to 80 King
Phillip Lane or send an email to audrob1r@gmail.com and they can come pick
them up! Contest ends on January 5, 2025. Thank you for your generosity!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Special Town Meeting ended Monday night just before 9:00 p.m., but not
before approving all four Warrant Articles as recommended by the Advisory
Committee.

As expected, there was quite a spirited debate about the merits of funding
our beloved Transfer Station via an enterprise fund. A substitute motion
was initially offered to the meeting that would have directed future
sticker fees to the General Fund. In the end, the Town voted to create the
Enterprise Fund, thereby freeing up about $1.6 million dollars in next
year’s budget, which will help us to fund the anticipated deficits this
spring. The Select Board will soon be reviewing how to fund the Transfer
Station in the future – either via sticker fees, pay-as-you-throw bag
costs, or a combination of the two.

We also approved a revised regional agreement for the South Shore
Vocational Technical School District, allocated $60K of CPA funds for the
re-design of B. Everett Hall Playground and fields, and authorized
borrowing money to purchase a new fire truck.

social! Thanks to the generosity of Evviva and The Toy Box, they are
planning a few activities to support HPTA.
Tuesday, December 10, 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

1. Gift Wrapping event. Shoppers will be able to drop off their presents to
be wrapped. Stay and eat or keep shopping while the elves magically wrap
them for you. Huge thank you to The Toy Box for donating all the wrapping
supplies.

2. Join them for a parent social from 6:00 p.m. to close. They’ll have some
appetizers, and you can purchase additional food and beverages as well!

3. Throughout the day, 10% of food and non-alcoholic beverage purchases
will be donated back to Hanover PTA. See their Facebook page for the flyer

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Breakfast with Santa, sponsored by the Hanover Woman’s Club, Juniors, will
be held on Saturday, December 14 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The event
will take place at Our Lady of the Angels Parish Center, (formerly St.
Mary’s), located at 392 Hanover Street.

Santa will be joined by Mrs. Claus this year. Both will be on hand to hear
the children’s wishes and to pose for pictures with the children. Bring
your cameras to capture the moment.

Guests can enjoy a breakfast of donuts and bagels along with tea, coffee,
juice and water. The children can join others at the craft table where
club members will be on hand to help them create seasonal crafts. In
addition, there will be face painting, a letter to Santa writing area,
raffles and the ever-popular cake walk. Children and adults can shop at
Santa’s Workshop table where all items are a $1 or less, gift wrapping
included.

Cost to attend is $10 per child and $5 for adults. Children under 2 are
free. Proceeds will benefit the club’s community service projects. Come
and enjoy this delightful event to benefit Hanover Woman’s Club, Juniors, a
member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs.

Hanover Special Town Meeting scheduled for December 9, 2024.

The Town of Hanover will hold a Special Town Meeting in person on Monday,
December 9, 2024, at Hanover High School, 287 Cedar Street. The meeting
will begin at 7:00 p.m., with check-in starting at 6:00 p.m. Only
registered Hanover voters who are physically present will be allowed to
participate in the meeting.

Attendees are encouraged to carpool, and additional handicapped parking
spaces will be available near the high school’s front entrance. Please note
that the meeting will not be accessible via Zoom, but residents can watch
live on the Town of Hanover’s social media channels and Hanover Community
Television.

Ready to spread some holiday cheer?
The library is collecting holiday stockings filled with necessities for
individuals living without permanent housing. Some of the new items that
are most appreciated are:

Gloves
Winter hats
Scarves
Hand and toe warmers
Small toiletries, lip balm, hand lotion
Candy, chocolates, gum
Gift cards to Walmart, Target, grocery stores or fast-food restaurants such
as Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds

The library will have a collection bin on the lobby counter for these
stockings. The collection deadline is Saturday, December 21st. For more

This Sunday is the Phoenix Lodge Public Breakfast.

Join them on Sunday, December 8th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for what
some folks say is the “best breakfast anywhere”.

Featuring: French toast, pancakes, eggs, homemade corned beef hash, home
fries, breakfast sausage, bacon, fresh fruit and juices, muffins, toast and
coffee.

You just can’t beat this price!!!

All of the proceeds from the breakfasts help to support their Food Pantry
program. Phoenix Lodge regularly donates to the Hanover, Pembroke
Firehouse and Norwell food pantries. They also provide two scholarships
each year to South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School.

December is their annual breakfast with Santa. Bring the kids to have a
great breakfast and a photo opportunity with the Big Man himself, Santa
Claus!
