Holiday concert this Sunday afternoon

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Snug Harbor Community Chorus will perform a holiday concert in the
sanctuary of the First Congregational Church of Hanover, 547 Hanover Street
(across from Town Hall) on Sunday, December 4 at 3:30 p.m. The suggested
donation is $15 per ticket with children 10 and under free. Under the
direction of Roy Kelley, the Duxbury-based Chorus of over 50 members,
normally performs just two major concerts per year at the Duxbury
Performing Arts Center. The Chorus has chosen this year to expand the
number of concerts to include a matinee performance at the Hanover Church.

Tickets may be purchased at snugharborcc.org, at the Congregational Church
office, or at the door. For more information, please contact Susan at the
church office, 781-826-4762, office@fcchanover.org.

Update on the hurricane relief drive for Haiti

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

This just in from Hanover’s own Kerline Tofuri of Jou Nouvo!

“Thank you for your generous donations of money, clothing, shoes, and a
variety of other household items for Jou Nouvo’s Hurricane Matthew Relief
Drive. You donated more than we ever imagined, and because of your
generosity, we were able to fill a 20 ft. container full of items and ship
it to Haiti.

On behalf of the Jou Nouvo’s Board of Directors and the Hurricane Relief
Committee, I would like to thank the office of St. Andrew Episcopal Church
of Hanover and its parishioners for their donations and for providing the
space to receive donations. A special thank you to the United Church of
Christ of Norwell for the emergency funding of $3,000, and for donations
from the congregation. Also, our deepest gratitude to the congregation of
Holy Mothers Collaborative, Saint Mary of Sacred Heart, and Saint Helen,
Mother of the Emperor of Constantine for their support in promoting and
contributing to the relief drive.

Please know that your generosity will help Jou Nouvo continue to make a
difference in the lives of families in Haiti who have been terribly
affected by Hurricane Matthew. We have already helped 6 of the 15 families
who have been identified as having the most immediate need for roof
repairs. We have distributed food and water to over 60 families, and we are
committed to feeding an additional 40 families by the end of this month.

Our goal is to be able to continue to assist these families beyond the
initial 6-month period, and provide on-going assistance in addition to what
we have already accomplished. With the 20 ft. container on its way to
Haiti, we are so excited that soon we will have the opportunity to
distribute the items we collected to families who need them most.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and for making it possible for
Jou Nouvo to serve the less fortunate families among us!

Appreciatively,
Kerline Tofuri, Founder and Board President”

Election results certified

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced Friday evening that the
results of the November 8th State Election have been finalized and
certified.

“After waiting the legally-required ten days, dozens of hand-counted,
overseas, and military ballots have now been added to the unofficial
results from last Tuesday’s election,” said Harder-Bernier. “Hanover
should be proud of its 84.5% turnout, but this number is slightly less than
our average turnout from the previous three presidential elections.
Regardless, it far exceeds the national average of 58 – 62% over the last
three presidentials,” she continued.

48% of Hanover residents voted for Donald Trump, with 42% voting for
Hillary Clinton. Newcomer and Hanover resident Kara Nyman narrowly edged
David DeCoste for Representative in General Court in Hanover, but DeCoste
was re-elected to the seat after Norwell and Rockland vote totals were
added to the overall race results. Long-time political leader Daniel
Pallotta was re-elected to another term as Plymouth County Commissioner,
and he easily won his hometown of Hanover as well. Hanover appeared to
have the second highest “no” vote total on Question Four (the legalization
of marijuana) in the state as of this writing. 58% of voters voted against
the measure which nevertheless passed state-wide.

For more information, please see the attached spreadsheet or contact Town
Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier at catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov or
