More caring Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers needed

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
More caring Meals on Wheels volunteer drivers needed!

Volunteer as little as 1 hour per month to make a world of difference.
Drivers are needed to deliver Meals on Wheels to homebound seniors on
Monday through Friday (not including holidays).

The Meals on Wheels program would not be possible without the dedication of
caring volunteers contributing to their community. IT’S MORE THAN JUST A
MEAL! Each Meals on Wheels delivery is made by a driver who also checks on
the well-being of each senior – bringing peace of mind to clients and their
families. For many, the Meals on Wheels driver is the only person they see
during their day.

If you are interested in volunteering to become a driver please call: 781
924-1913 and speak to Katie O’Brien or-mail: coa@hanover-ma.gov .

Delivery time is 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It only takes 1 hour a week of
your time. Drivers must be 18 years old or older and have a valid MA
Drivers license.

Farm animal program

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

August 27, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Making Friends with Farm Animals (Sponsored by Eastern Bank and the Hanover
Historical Society)

Join the Hanover Historical Society to get up close and personal with some
traditional farm animals including chickens and rabbits. An educator from
Soule Homestead Organic Farm and Education Center will speak about these
animals and how to care for them. The program will allow children to
interact with the animals and learn what life was like on a farm in the mid
1800’s New England. Staff members will bring out items from the Society’s
collection that connects with animal husbandry and care. Children will have
an opportunity to make and sample fresh dairy products such as butter,
milk, and ice cream. From this program children will be able to appreciate
farm animals and understand where products like eggs, milk, and ice cream
come from.

Program is free, but advanced reservations are required by Monday August
25th at 12 p.m. To make reservations, please call (781) 826-9575 or e-mail
the Education Coordinator, Sarah Peck at
Hanoverhistoricaleducation@gmail.com .
Program is held at the Hanover Historical Society headquarters, The Stetson
House Museum, 514 Hanover Street.
