Great news just in from the Hanover Foundation!

The Hanover Foundation for Education Enrichment (HFEE) extends its sincere
thanks to all those in the community who came out to support its most recent
event "Dine at the Ninety-Nine" in Rockland on March 31st. Dozens of
families, educators and administrators packed the house at the Ninety-Nine
last Thursday night and enjoyed a lively evening with plenty of good food
and raffles. The event helped to raise over $1,200 for the HFEE which will
fund teacher grants for all grades in the Hanover schools.

Every year the HFEE relies on the good will and generosity of businesses and
individuals to make our fundraisers a success. This year the following
businesses and individuals contributed to the event’s success: The Fours,
Asian C, Beijing House, The British Beer Company, Crescent Realty, Briteway
Car Wash, Laura Blumberg, The Florist Mill, Boston Bowl, Crossroads, Harmon
Golf, Golfology, and Debbie Rich. Thanks also to Ninety-Nine General
Manager Michael LeConti for making the night seamless. By participating in
this event, whether you donated goods, came and ate, or got take-out, you
contributed to the expansion of educational opportunities for Hanover’s
youngsters. We sincerely appreciate your participation and involvement! If
you are thinking of getting involved, join us at our May meeting on the 19th
at the home of Mugsie Sarson, 88 Whiting Street. If you have any questions
about the meeting or if you just want to get involved, contact HFEE

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Those who have been in town for a bit will fondly remember Stephen J.
Matheny and his courageous fight with leukemia back in the late 90’s. His
delightful family still lives in town and runs the Assinippi Eating
Establishment – a great "townie" breakfast place. Steve was a terrific
young man who is being remembered by incoming HHS hockey captain James
Harrison, a current Hanover High athlete, as follows:

Camp will focus on Hitting, Pitching, Throwing/Catching, Infield, Outfield,

Hanover High School baseball team to participate in running this clinic.

SPRING CLEAN UP AT THE STETSON HOUSE "Help Keep Hanover Beautiful"

Bring your rakes and clippers. Each year volunteers from the Friends of the
Stetson House provide a service to help make our town center look its best.
The date this year is Satur-day, April 16 from 9 a.m. to noon. (Rain date,
April 23).

Members of the Friends, assisted by the Historical Society, the Lion’s Club,
the Hanover Garden Club, the Walnut Hill Garden Club, Cub and Boy Scouts and
oth-ers work together to clean up winter debris and brush. We guarantee
fresh air, exercise, good people to meet and work with, and a sense of
accomplishment and community spirit.

The Hanover Parent Advisory Council presents nationally known expert Dr.
Ross Greene on Collaborative Problem Solving: skills for understanding and
helping kids with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges on Tuesday,
April 5th, 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Hanover Middle School Library, 45
Whiting Street.

This seminar is for parents, teachers and caregivers looking for answers to
questions like:

"Why is this kid acting this way??

"How come what works for other kids isn’t working for this one??

"What can I do instead??

Ross W. Greene, Ph.D., is the originator of a model of psychosocial
treatment for challenging kids called Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS),
as described in his books The Explosive Child and Lost at School. He is
Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard
Medical School, on the professional staff in the Department of Psychology at
the Cambridge Health Alliance, adjunct Associate Professor in the Department
of Psychology at Virginia Tech, and Senior Lecturer in the school psychology
program in the Department of Education at Tufts University.

Dr. Greene is also the founder of a non-profit organization called Lives in
the Balance – which aims to provide advocacy and support for behaviorally
challenging kids and their parents, teachers, and other caregivers, and to
disseminate the CPS model through no-cost web-based programming. He
consults extensively to general and special education schools, inpatient and
residential facilities, and systems of juvenile detention, and lectures
widely throughout the world.

The Hanover Parent Advisory Council is a parent group whose mission is to
work toward understanding, respect, support and appropriate education for
all children with learning differences in our community. The Hanover PAC
will provide an opportunity for parents to network and share information as
well as a way to work constructively with our schools to make them the best
they can be for all children.

The Hanover Permanent Scholarship Fund is conducting its Annual Fund Drive
right now. Letters have been sent to residents this week. HPSF has awarded
more than $510,000 to students since 1977. All donations are part of the
permanent assets with earned interest distributed annually. Donations of
any amount are appreciated and will be acknowledged. You may choose to make
your contribution in memory of or in honor of a friend or relative. Please
send your donation to P.O. Box 67, Hanover.
