Break-ins in Hanover

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Hanover Police Department needs your eyes and
ears!

I regret to tell you that there has been a rash of break-ins
in Hanover recently; mostly during daytime hours.  Here are some specifics
to help you to be aware and hopefully helpful to the HPD!  It appears that
parties enter through a window (front or back) and generally exit via a rear
door.   Parties usually go directly to the master bedroom and rummage
for scrap gold.   Parties will by-pass high end electronics and other
valuables for scrap gold.  Occasionally they will check the medicine
cabinets for prescription narcotics and take them also.  Some break-ins
have occurred on side streets, but some have also occurred on main roads that
have a substantial amount of traffic and neighbors in close proximity.

If anyone sees ANYTHING suspicious, please call the Hanover
Police Department at 911.  In a non-emergency situation, please call the
business line at (781) 826-3231.

More healthy lunch food information

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

I have received some great feedback regarding the previous
post concerning the Hanover Healthy Kids Initiative.  I hope you will
continue to support their hard work regarding the healthy changes to the school

that the committee made for a presentation to the Hanover School Committee and
the Hanover Board of Health:  http://ato tw.com/files/HealthyLunchesPresentation.pdf
.

Further, some of you had trouble with my
not-totally-accurate link to the Hanover School lunch menu.  If you have a
kid in Middle School, it was great, otherwise, my apologies.  ;)
Here is the link to the entire series of menus for the entire year for all levels:
http://www.hanoversch ools.org/foodservices
.  Please note that the cost for tomorrow’s premium pizza meal is
$3.00 for students!

Back-to-School lunch menu link

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

I have been following the Hanover Healthy Kids Initiative group
since somewhere close to their inception; it is a dedicated and growing group
of Hanover residents and school staff.  I am delighted to report that through
their hard work and partnerships, the Hanover Schools have made huge and
positive changes to their school lunch menu!

Hanover’s children go back to school tomorrow, so I am
sure many of you are planning what they will have for lunch as I write this.  The
Hanover Healthy Kids Initiative hereby asks you to encourage your kids to BUY
lunch and support the changes they have made to date.  With your support, more
great changes will be able to follow!

The Anchor Race returns to Hanover

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Hanover Anchor Race is coming back to town!

The Hanover Anchor Race is a great community event that first took place in the
spring of 2008.  Over 160 runners, which included 100 Hanover residents, took
part in this 4-mile race through Hanover.  They are hoping to exceed that
number this year.  So, break out your running shoes!

When:  Sunday October 3rd  – start time 10:00 a.m.
Time by Spitler Race Systems
Check in begins at 8:30 a.m.;  Kids Fun Run at 9:00 a.m.;  family events
throughout the morning.

Where: Starting line is at Cedar School, 265 Cedar Street.

To Register:  Go to www.active.com and search for Anchor Race.
Sign up before September 15th to receive a complimentary t-shirt.  Fee
is $18.00 on-line ahead of time or register on race day for $20.00 at their check-in
table.

Ever wonder why it is called the Anchor Race?  Old Ironsides’ anchor was
built in Hanover.  The anchor is part of the town’s seal and the logo of
the Hanover Schools.  It is a great piece of Hanover history (and also the
final leg of a relay team!).

All proceeds from the Hanover Anchor Race will benefit the Hanover Foundation
for Educational Enrichment (HFEE).  They are looking for corporate sponsors and
family sponsors.  For $100, your business will support the Newcomers Club, the
Anchor Race and the HFEE.  For $50.00 your family can do the same.  All
sponsors received by September 15th will have their company or
family name printed on race t-shirts.

They are also looking for anyone who would like to help out with our family events
on race day…teach an exercise class or lead group stretching, paint faces or
set up a booth for your wellness business.  If you would like to sponsor the
race, make a donation, or volunteer your talent to make the day special for
spectators, please contact Race Director Amy Coffey at
sully1177@hotmail.com
.
