This just in! New news! There are still some tickets left for David
Sawin’s "Roast and Toast" surprise party to be held THIS Friday, April 30 at
7:00 p.m. at the Abington VFW. Therefore, the committee has now decided to
sell the remaining tickets at the door. To insure that you can purchase
your tickets at the door, please call Valerie Osborne at (781) 826 – 0243 or
e-mail her at vrostitch@yahoo.com to reserve ASAP.

Tickets are $25 per person and include a comedian, catered dinner buffet,
and a farewell gift to Scoutmaster Dave Sawin of Troop 38 in Hanover.

Time to do some spring cleaning! The Friends of the John Curtis Library
have begun accepting donations of new or gently used books in anticipation
of their annual book sale. Donations are now being accepted at the John
Curtis Library of books for all ages, puzzles, DVD’s and CD’s. No magazines
or encyclopedias, please. The book sale room will be closed until May 14
while the Friends prepare for the sale, but donations may still be dropped
off just outside the room.

Donations can be dropped off during regular library hours between now and
Friday May 14th. Library hours are Mondays from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.,
Tuesdays from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.,
and Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The book
sale is Saturday, May 15; mark your calendars; details will be forthcoming.

If you purchase a membership to the Friends (as low as $10), you will also
receive an invitation to the Members’ Preview Sale that will be held the
evening of Friday, May 14. Stop by the library anytime to learn how to
become a "Friend of the John Curtis Library" and receive this terrific
benefit of membership.

Mac McHale and Emery Hutchins will appear at the John Curtis Library on
Wednesday, April 28 at 7:00 p.m. With banjo, mandolin, guitar, concertina,
bodran, octave mandolin, and vocal harmonies, Two Old Friends tell a story
in music of how immigrants came to this country from Ireland, Scotland, and
Great Britain, bringing their melodies and their instruments. The concert
will offer ballads and foot stomping tunes, gospel sing-a-longs, traditional
Irish tunes and storytelling——-something for everyone!

There is no charge for admission. This program is available through a grant
from the Hanover Cultural Council and through the generosity of the Friends
of the Library.

Hanover VNA Presents

"Asthma and the Interventions"

Wednesday, May 5th, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

The Hanover VNA will be sponsoring an informational evening on Asthma and
the New Drugs of Asthma. The topics to be discussed will be asthma, new
interventions, and current drugs used to maintain, treat and prevent the
onset of asthma. The speaker will be Martha Desilva, MEd, RRT, the Director
of Respiratory at Massasoit Community College. Following her presentation,
there will be a question and answer period.

Please join the HVNA at the Town Hall Meeting Room for this program which is
open to the public at no charge.

The Hanover Woman’s Club Juniors annual Candidate’s Night will be held
tomorrow (as I write this), Tuesday, April 27th beginning at 7:00 p.m. at
the Hanover Town Hall. This is your one and only chance to see and meet all
the candidates for the Hanover Town Elections, which will be on May 8th.

Given the complicated races for the three Selectman positions alone, this is
surely the year to venture out and hear from the candidates. There are also
contested races for School Committee and the Board of Health. Don’t miss
Candidate’s Night! It’s never a dull moment!

This just in from the Brownies of Troop #80337!

Please send along a BIG thank you to all of the wonderful people of Hanover
for the overwhelming support that we received this weekend at our Girl Scout
Yard Sale. Brownie Troop #80337 held a yard sale this weekend to raise
money to buy uniforms for a sister troop, Cardinal Cushing School Scouts.
This troop is marching in the Memorial Day Parade for the first time this
year. This troop has never had uniforms in all their 25 years of existence.
It appears they are not able to use their funds for this designated purpose.

Our goal was to raise $310.00 to purchase the uniforms. We far exceeded that
goal and raised $593.00. We had so many people randomly walk up and just
hand us donations because our girls were doing such a wonderful thing.
What a community we have.

We also wanted to send along another BIG thank you to Peter Nixon from AT&T
Mobility who immediately came to us wanting to help. In the spirit of
community, AT&T offered to make whatever donation necessary to insure that
this troop would get their uniforms. Thank you Peter and AT&T.

Both troops will be getting together in the near future to present them with
their uniforms. I’m thinking ice cream party …..

HYAA registration for fall youth sports is now available on-line and also in
person on Tuesday, April 27th.
Registration is now occurring for HYAA’s fall soccer, football, cheerleading
programs and the Rockland Golf Course’s Junior Golf Program. You can
register "in person" on Tuesday, April 27th at the Hanover Middle School
from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 pm. Family discounts for 3 or more children in the
"same sport" will be offered at "in person" registration only.

The golf program is run by Rockland Golf Course, and there will be
representatives from RGC conducting registrations at "in person"
registration on the 27th. There are no discounts for the golf program, and
you can only register at the "in person" night for this sport. You can get
more information about the golf program at

HYAA is also pleased to announce the first-ever fall soccer program for
kindergarteners. Sign up early as this program will fill up quickly!

On-line registration will continue until May 16th. HYAA encourages on-line
registration at www.hyaa.net . The fee is $75 per
sport.

HYAA is a non-profit organization that supports Hanover youth sports
programs. 100% of the money is processed back toward the program for new
fields, equipment, training, insurance, uniforms, etc. HYAA is 100%
volunteer run. Hanover Youth Athletic Association represents baseball,
basketball, cheerleading, football, golf, soccer, and softball.

If you are a yard sale regular.or otherwise.no matter; you simply have to go
to this one. Read on!

Please come to a Yard Sale that our Girl Scout Troop #80337 is having this
Saturday, April 24th from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Town Hall Parking
Lot. The yard sale is to raise money for a sister Girl Scout Troop in
Hanover.

The Cardinal Cushing Girl Scout Troop is marching in the Memorial Day Parade
for the first time this year. In all the 25 years or their existence, this
troop has never been able to purchase uniforms for their girls. It appears
that they are not able to use their funds for this designated purpose.

As soon as our Brownie Troop heard about this, we wanted to do something to
help them get their uniforms so they can march proudly in the parade
alongside all of the other troops in Hanover. So, our girls decided to hold
a yard sale to raise money to purchase the 18 sashes, pins and badges to
complete the uniform (approximately $310.00 total).
