Are you Smarter…this Thursday!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

This Thursday, March 26th, brings the much-anticipated Hanover PTA spring
fundraiser, Are you Smarter Than A Hanover Middle Schooler?  The
frenzy is building, but there are still tickets available in advance and at the
door.  The competition begins at 6:30 p.m., so arrive early to get a good
seat in the Hanover Middle School gym.  Students, parents, neighbors and
grandparents will love to come out to cheer for their teachers, coaches, clergy
and town officials and they spar with HMS students.  HPTA plays a critical
role in funding programs, grants and scholarships for Hanover students every
year.  This Thursday many, many community leaders will come out to show
their support and we hope you will be there too.

Tickets
are $5 for kids and $10 for adults with a $25 per household maximum.
Tickets will be available at the door, or you can secure them in advance
through the schools or by contacting Patti Taylor at patti.taylor@gmail.com .

Three
special HPTA Spring Prize-A-Day raffle prizes will be drawn the night of the
event, so get your raffle tickets before the drawing at 8:00 p.m.

Red Sox tickets?

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Were you able to get tickets to the Red Sox this year?
Me neither.  You pretty much have to know somebody who works in the front
office to get tickets these days.  But, this just in…great news for
Hanover residents!  If you attend the Hanover Foundation for Educational
Enrichment fundraiser at the K of C in Pembroke tomorrow (Saturday) night, you
can enter in a raffle to win two box seats to see the American League Champion
Tampa Bay Devil Rays play the Sox on April 8th.  I was
delighted to get this recent update from the good folks at the Hanover
Foundation.

Admission is only $10 per person and includes pizza,
appetizers, dessert, and coffee.  The doors open at 6:30 p.m.!  Tickets
can be reserved and will be held at the door by e-mailing annelorge@comcast.net.  Tickets
can also be purchased through the schools or at the door.  For more
information, please call (781) 826-8558.

Robotics Team plans to rumble this weekend

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Special thanks to Kurt Giessler, Hanover High Robotics Advisor, for this update
regarding the Robotics Team!

The students of the Hanover High Robotics Team have been working
endlessly since the beginning of January to design, engineering, and fabricate
a powerful spinning drum robot called "The Bull".  Thousands of
man (and woman!) hours have now been dedicated to the project, and this
Saturday, March 21st, they have their first competition test of the
“bot” at Plymouth North’s "Rumble at the Rock"
tournament.  The event is open to the public and the team highly
encourages you to see their work, and the work of high school students across
the Eastern seaboard, in battle.  The event starts at 9:00 a.m. and will
go until 4:00 p.m. at Plymouth North High School.  More details and
directions can be found here: http://hano verhsengineering.org/upcoming_events.html

Please take a look at the website they have created  at http://hanoverhsengineering.org / to
see pictures of the team, info about the students, and a list of their gracious
and generous sponsors.  Thank you so much for your support; the Robotics
team’s successes would have been impossible without your contributions.

I personally got a kick out of reading the student bios… I have known some
of them since they were knee high to a grasshopper!  Check it out!

Flip Flop Frenzy

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Some
of you will immediately understand why residents of Hanover are rallying around
the Jennifer Hunter Yates Sarcoma Foundation (JHYSF).  Some of you will not.
According to the website, the Jennifer Hunter Yates Sarcoma Foundation (JHYSF)
Inc. is committed to providing funding for sarcoma research, education, and
patient support, as well as promoting awareness of this rare disease.
JHYSF provides a network of families and friends who support patients as
they fight and recover from sarcoma.  Hanover resident (born and bred!)
Beth MacDonald is gallantly fighting sarcoma every day.  It’s time
to rally around her again – by supporting the JHYSF!  As Beth
welcomes yet another glorious spring with her four children, please join her
