Magic with The Beatles: Celebrating the Fab Four’s Career Through Magic
and Media

Join the good folks at the Legion for this entertaining and educational
multi-media experience all centered around The Fab Four with award-winning
magician John Logan!

Within only seven years and before any of them turned 30 years old, The
Beatles were able to dominate the charts like no one else had before,
change how music was produced, and even helped to prevent a world war from
happening by promoting peace. In other words, they made the impossible
become possible.

Watch as Hanover native and magician John Logan also makes the impossible
become possible where he’ll use mind reading, sleight of hand, stories,
audience interaction, and media to share how they created some of the most
magical moments throughout history.

Who should attend this event?

If you’re a fan of The Beatles and/or if you’re a fan of magic, then
this event has your name all over it! Although all ages love them both,
please note that this is an adults-only event, please and thank you!

When and where is this taking place?

Friday – July 15th
American Legion – 104 King St.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and John will hit the stage at 7:00 p.m. —
but make sure to get there early so you can enjoy Beatles trivia, enter
raffles to win some amazing prizes, and order refreshing cocktails from the
Magical Mystery Drink Menu! All profits from drink revenue will go back to
the American Legion Post 149.

Will there be audience participation?

Yes! A few lucky audience members will be invited to have fun on stage!

About John Logan:

John Logan is an award-winning magician who performed on America’s Got
Talent. With his modern and creative approach to magic, he was also
nicknamed the Team Magician for the New England Patriots where seven
million people on a weekly basis would see him perform for different
players in the studio. He’s also the Founder of the Impossible is Just a
Word Program where he speaks at leadership conferences and blends magic to
teach others about innovation and teamwork. John has always been intrigued
by The Beatles and their stories ever since he heard “Love Me Do” in second
grade and loves blending his two passions together to create an
educational, yet entertaining experience for his audience.

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The dedication ceremony for the “Sergeant Michael C. Chesna Memorial
Rink” will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the B. Everett Hall
Field, located at 495 Hanover Street, during Hanover Day, at 11:45 a.m.

Sgt. Michael Chesna served and protected his community as a U.S. Army
Sergeant in Iraq and Afghanistan and as an officer with the Weymouth Police
Department. He and his family made Hanover their home. As I said to his
wife Cindy a few weeks ago when I met her for the first time, her husband’s
funeral will be seared into my memory until the day that I am gone too. We
are so lucky to have had him among us.

On May 2, 2022, Hanover Town Meeting voted to name Hanover’s street
hockey rink the “Sergeant Michael C. Chesna Memorial Rink” to preserve
Sgt. Chesna’s memory for generations to come. Don’t miss the opportunity
to thank this brave man’s family and friends one more time at the
dedication on Saturday (probably today as you read this e-mail).

If you have never been to Hanover Day, or even if you have, the best advice
that I can give you is to walk if you are able, or carpool. Let’s face it,
as much as we love having Hanover Day in the center of town, it was not
designed to host thousands of people and their cars! If you do need to
find a place to park, here is some general information and related tips:

HANOVER DAY LOCATION
B. Everett Hall Field / Sylvester Field

WHERE TO PARK
Please note there will be no parking available on Hanover Street or on Main
Street. Be sure to follow the Police posted ‘No parking’ signs as these
restrictions will be strictly enforced.

Parking for Daytime Events:
Parking is available in all town lots at Town Hall, John Curtis Library,
Riley Hall and Briggs Stables – enter at the Main Street Entrance. Police
will be directing traffic all throughout Hanover Day.

Parking for Evening Events:
Hanover Day volunteers are expecting a very large turnout, particularly on
Saturday evening for the fireworks. Please plan your arrival accordingly as
there is limited parking in Hanover Center. Below is a list of approved
parking areas for the evening events. We are thankful to the local
businesses who have made their parking lots available for the event. Please
do not park on residents’ private property and please clean up any trash
that you have so that business lots will be left clean and neat. Police
will be on site to direct traffic.

Parking is NOT allowed in the Hanover Cemetery or at Center School. Please
follow all direction of the Hanover Police. Lighted signs will direct you
to parking areas in the center of town.

Saturday Night Parking is available at:
Hanover Town Hall and the John Curtis Library – 550 Hanover Street
Briggs Stables – Main Street entrance – gates will be open with police
directing traffic
St. Mary’s Church – 392 Hanover Street (after 6:00 p.m.)

Hanover Day kicks off tonight (Thursday) with a juried art show, rolls
right into the carnival that begins on Friday, and ends with a bang of
fireworks on Saturday night! During the day on Saturday, Hanover’s arts
and music will be prominently featured along with a 5K road race, quilt
show, a trackless train, 3 on 3 basketball tournament, classic car show,
vendor craft fair, food trucks and a luncheon for senior citizens. Don’t
miss it!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Day, the Hanover Cultural Council, and the Hanover Unity Council
all look forward to welcoming the Thai classical dance and music teachers
from the NMR Buddhist Meditation Center to Hanover this weekend as part of
the Hanover Day celebrations! On Saturday, June 25th at 2:00 p.m. on the
main stage, the dance troupe will be performing classical dance in
traditional Thai costumes. This performance will be followed by a live
music performance featuring classical Thai instruments.

Teachers come from Thailand each year to teach children traditional
classical Thai dance locally for the Southeastern Massachusetts community
on a volunteer basis. They also teach traditional classical music lessons
for orchestral performances. The NMR Buddhist Meditation Center, also
known as Wat Nawamintararachutis, has been an amazing local landmark since
2002 in Raynham, Massachusetts. The center invites all people to come
together for internal and external moments of peace.

If you are interested in learning more about Thai culture and Buddhist
meditation, the center has a museum that is open to the public, and classes
are offered regularly. All are welcome!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Josselyn-Cummings American Legion (Post 149), located at 104 King
Street in Hanover, will be rededicating its revitalized function hall on
Tuesday, June 28th, 2022, at 12:00 noon. The public is invited to attend.

In what was formally known as “American Legion Function Hall”, Post 149
will rededicate and rename its historic function hall to “Centennial
Hall”. The new name, Centennial Hall, is based on the 100-year founding
of the American Legion in 1919. Post 149 will recognize the local veterans,
families, friends, local community groups, public officials, Scouts, and
others who have contributed to the great success of Hanover’s American
Legion.

The American Legion was founded in March 1919, in Paris, France, by U.S.
World War I military personnel. They dedicated themselves to four pillars
of service and advocacy: veterans, military personnel, youth, and patriotic
values. National membership combined with the American Legion Auxiliary and
Sons of the American Legion exceeds 3 million. Today, there are
approximately 13,000 local posts worldwide. The American Legion has been
instrumental in the creation of a number of major institutions in American
society, including the formation of the Department of Veterans Affairs, the
creation of the U.S. Flag Code, the passage of the GI Bill, and more.

The local Post 149, founded in 1946, takes pride in assisting veterans in
need locally and overseas, including the Nathan Hale Foundation, ALS ONE,
The Fisher House (which houses families of veterans at the VA Hospital),
Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, Weymouth Police Officer
Chesna’s Family Fund and local high school scholarships, just to name a
few.

Post 149 acknowledges everyone for their support during this rededication
ceremony especially the Hanover Scouts for their replacement of the new
awning. Please join the good folks at the Post 149 on June 28th, at 12:00
pm noon, for the special ceremony of “Centennial Hall”. Refreshments

Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced today that the town
has contracted with a new software provider called OnlineDogLicensing.com
for dog licenses, and as a result, the on-line portal for dog licensing is
temporarily inactive. The existing software company, GoPetie, recently
announced that they are going out of business. All of the existing Hanover
dog data will be transferred to the new company, Onlinedoglicensing.com,
this week.

Residents wishing to license a dog may still do so by mail or in person at
the Town Clerk’s Office. Dog owners are encouraged to begin the process
by filling out the dog license application found here:

. Completed forms may be dropped in the front door mail slot or mailed in

02339. Your tag will be mailed back to you. If you wish to appear in
person, you are encouraged to call first for an appointment to make sure
that someone will be there who can execute the transaction.

“We are excited about our new partnership with OnlineDogLicensing.com,
said Harder-Bernier. Fortunately, we had previously planned to migrate to
their services this summer. The early demise of GoPetie accelerated our
timeline, but we are confident this new software program will equal or
exceed our former program”, she continued. The new on-line portal will
be up and running in July. An announcement will be made after in-house
training is complete and when the new portal is accessible to the public.

After two years off, the summer spelling bee is back!

The library’s 35th spelling bee will be held on Friday, July 1 at 11:00
a.m. Spellers of all ages are welcome, and the competition will be divided
into two divisions: up to age 13, and age 14 and older. Top spellers in
each division will have their names engraved on the permanent trophy.

All participants will receive prizes, and snacks will be served. No
advance registration is required. Come by and be part of this proud
tradition!
