Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Board of Selectmen recently voted to accept articles for the 2021
Annual Town Meeting Warrant until Monday, January 25, 2021, at 12:00 noon.
The Board also voted to accept articles for the Special Town Meeting
Warrant until Monday, February 22, 2021, at 12:00 noon. Basically, this
means that now is the time to submit your ideas for how our Town should be
run.

If the article you are submitting is from a Board or Committee, please be
sure the Board or Committee’s meeting minutes reflect the vote to support
the article. If the article is being submitted by an entity other than a
Board or Committee or town official, initiative petition signatures must be
collected; contact the Town Clerk’s Office for more information. Articles
must be submitted in final form using Times New Roman font size 12 without
“headers or footers” in the document. Please submit articles to Janet
Tierney at janet.tierney@hanover-ma.gov. As always, please submit articles
of genuine necessity, keeping budget limitations in mind.

Please note that any ballot questions (including Proposition 2½ overrides)
should be submitted by the January 25, 2021 deadline date noted above.

With the approaching annual renewal of the Town’s dog licensing
requirement, it is important to schedule your pet’s vaccination(s). As a
result of COVID-19, the Town of Hanover may not have an opportunity this
year to host a rabies vaccination clinic. Please review the following list

pet’s veterinarian to schedule a vaccination appointment.

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The John Curtis Library is hosting two virtual programs for children and
families during the school vacation week.

On Monday, December 28 at 11:00 a.m., magician Debbie O’Carroll will
conduct a Make Your Own Magic Tricks Zoom Workshop. Children will learn how
to make and perform 5 amazing magic tricks with everyday objects found
around the house. This hour-long workshop is ideal for ages 7 and older
(younger siblings are also welcome). To register, please email

On Wednesday, December 30, Pumpernickel Puppets will present a fun,
imaginative and interactive production of The Three Billy Goats Gruff and
The Lion and the Mouse, plus a puppet making demonstration. The video
will be up between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on that date so families are
able to watch at their leisure. Log on to

Both performers have appeared at the library on multiple occasions. The
programs are funded by the Friends of the John Curtis Free Library. For

A free flu vaccine clinic for residents of the Town of Hanover will be held
at Hanover High School (287 Cedar Street) on the following dates and times:

• Wednesday, December 16, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Town of Hanover Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule

• Council on Aging: The Council on Aging will be closed on Thursday,
November 26th and Friday, November 27th.

• Department of Public Works: The Hanover Transfer Station will be closed
on Thursday, November 26th, and will return to normal hours on Friday,
November 27th. The Ames Way brush pile will be open on Friday, November
27th from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; Saturday, November 28th from 8:00 a.m. to
noon; and Sunday, November 29th from noon to 4:00 p.m. Public Works
offices will be closed on Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November
27th.

• Hanover Town Hall: In-person services will not be available on
Wednesday, November 25th. Please use the town departments contact directory
on the town’s website if you need assistance. Town Hall will be closed on
Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th.

• Hanover Public Schools: There will be a half-day for all students on
Wednesday, November 25th. Hanover Public Schools will be closed on
Thursday, November 26th and Friday, November 27th. Lunch (including remote
meals) will not be served.

• John Curtis Free Library: All library services will be closed from
Wednesday, November 25th through Saturday, November 28th. Visit the John

“Wondering what you can do to help others this Holiday Season? The
American Legion has you covered.

Stop by the American Legion Post 149 on King Street in Hanover on Saturday,
December 12th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Legion will be collecting
the following to be distributed to the Hanover Food Pantry:
• Non-perishable food – proteins are particularly appreciated. The
food pantry has an abundance of beans, however, any other canned goods are
welcome.
• Grocery gift cards in all donations welcome
• Toy drive sponsored by the Toys for Tots
• Gloves, mittens, socks

Due to COVID-19, this will be a brief drop-off event. There will boxes
will be outside of the Legion and we ask that you stop by to make your
donation.***** There will be a special visit by Santa, who will be on hand
giving out candy canes.

If you would like to make a year-end donation to the Legion, please just
make your check out to American Legion Post 149 and give it to one of the
workers or drop in the jar on the table. These funds are used to support
veteran services exclusively.

Calling all volunteers!

This Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 11/19-11/21, Hanover Open Space
Committee (OSC) members will be working with Wildlands Trust to replace the
planking on our boardwalk entrance to the Colby-Phillips property. Time
has taken a toll on this much-used pathway. Because of COVID-19
precautions, the Committee is scheduling participation via Eventbrite. The
links are below.

This is a great opportunity to support our Hanover trail system, which has
given us local access to nature during this crazy year. Information on
times, tools, and precautions are in the links. If you have any questions,
