Resident for 14 years

Please list relevant experience (education, vocation, etc.) you feel will
be useful in the office you are seeking.
• I have served on the Hanover Public Schools, School Committee for three
consecutive terms, including three years as Chairperson, two years as
vice-chairperson, five years on the finance sub-committee, responsible for
contract negotiations with the Hanover Teachers Association, and three
years implementing HPS safety policies with the Hanover Police Dept.,
related to A.L.I.C.E. training and active intruders. In 2013, I was
directly responsible for the hiring of Hanover’s current superintendent.
I also served for two years on the town of Hanover’s MPIC (Master Plan
Implementation Committee). I am a ten year member of the HYAA (Hanover
Youth Athletic Association) serving as the Vice Chairperson for over 5
years.
What are the major issues confronting the town which involve your office?
Please express your opinion on these issues and how you propose to deal
with them.
• In my experience serving the district and our community over the years,
when “issues” arise, we address them as a district leadership team head
on. We leverage the individual skill sets within the district to find quick
and effective solutions, or quickly implement a plan for a longer term
solution. There is no evidence that we have failed as a district for
problem solving or providing solutions to students and families. I would
rather discuss the success stories from our district so that we can
identify opportunities for future achievement. If we can expand individual
successes, then the district reaches a higher achievement collectively for
all students. “Issues” has become the default word that our town and
our society always want to discuss and call attention to, but in my
experience they are typically isolated situations to an individual’s
personal agenda, and are not reflective of the district or the community as
a whole. We need to do a better job of celebrating our successes and using
them as a foundation for future achievement. This should be the goal of
our community to change the narrative from “issues” to “successes.”
Why are you running for this office?
• I am seeking re-election for School Committee, because I am committed
to the Town of Hanover and dedicated to establishing high expectations
specifically for our leadership team and also for the district as a whole,
so we can always strive for excellence collectively. I will continue to
work hard to professionally and respectfully challenge our administration
team, without bias or a personal agenda, to ensure that the district is
providing students and families of Hanover the best education experience
possible.
