Mom on the Go Food Truck Grand Opening at Early Voting

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

It’s not every day that I promote a Hanover business for free on ATOTW
(pretty much never), but the tie-in to early voting with this one was just
too good to pass up. Read on!

One of Hanover’s newest businesses is on wheels! Mom On the Go Food Truck
is a mobile kitchen serving authentic grilled cheese sandwiches. Mom On the
Go will be at the Hanover Town Hall parking lot on Wednesday, October 26th
from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. for their Grand Opening!

Grab a classic grilled cheese or get more adventurous with one of their
other selections such as the Mozzarella, Provolone, Tomato and Pesto
Sandwich. They have house made tomato soup too!

Inside scoop: June/Mom on the Go has been running on a “soft opening”
basis for the past week or two. Last Saturday I tracked Mom on the Go down
using her Facebook page (Facebook search: “Mom on the Go Food Truck”), and
thoroughly enjoyed a grilled cheddar cheese with tomato sandwich and a side
of tomato soup. Don’t tell my own mother this, but June’s grilled cheese
rivals my mom’s! Her prices are reasonable and the tomato soup was
outstanding. It was the perfect lunch for a brisk fall day. Can’t wait
for the Grand Opening!

So, early voting is from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. that Wednesday, October
26th, in Town Hall. Let’s make it a community event – grab a sandwich and
some soup and come vote early!

For more information about Mom on the Go, e-mail June at
momonthegofoodtruck@gmail.com . For more information about early voting,
contact me at catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov .

Town Clerk receives early voting weekend hours grant on behalf of Town

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced today that the Town
of Hanover has received a $1,000 grant from the Secretary of the
Commonwealth’s Elections Division as part of the 2016 Early Voting
Weekend Hours Incentive Grant program.

“The Secretary of the Commonwealth has made both the grant application
process as well as early voting weekend hours easy on cities and towns in
the Commonwealth. I am delighted that I was able to apply for and accept
this award on behalf of the Town of Hanover, and even more excited to begin
the early voting period very shortly,” said Town Clerk Harder-Bernier.

Early voting in Hanover begins Monday, October 24, 2016 and goes through
Friday, November 4th. It is open to all registered voters in Hanover, and
will be held in the first floor hearing room of Hanover Town Hall during
the following days and times during that two week period:
• Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
• Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
• Fridays from 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon
• Saturday, October 29th from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

According to Michelle Tassinari, Director and Legal Counsel of the
Elections Division, grants are designed “to expand voting
opportunities”…(and are) “based on the number of registered voters in
(the) municipality and the amount of hours (the town) has agreed to open
for early voting during the weekend of October 29th.”

For more information about early voting in the Town of Hanover, contact the
Town Clerk’s Office at (781) 826-5000 x1079 or e-mail
catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov or meg.coogan@hanover-ma.gov .

Unwanted medications take back day

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Do you have unwanted medication(s) you need to dispose of?

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (D.E.A.) is coordinating, with the Hanover
Board of Health and the Hanover Police Department, a nationwide one-day
event to take back unwanted medications on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at
the Hanover Senior Center, 665 Center Street, Hanover, between the hours of
10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

This national initiative will provide an opportunity for the public to
surrender pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law
enforcement officers for destruction. Expired, unused or unwanted
substances in our homes are a potential source of supply for the increasing
abuse of pharmaceutical drugs in the United States and an unacceptable risk
to public health and safety.

For more information, please contact health@hanover-ma.gov .

Public flu clinic

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

SEASONAL INFLUENZA CLINIC

Public Flu Clinic

The Hanover Board of Health, in conjunction with the Hanover Visiting Nurse
Association, has scheduled their annual public flu clinics to be held at
the Hanover Senior Center, 665 Center Street, Hanover:

Wednesday, October 19, 2016 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Please note:
Because of budget cuts across all departments, the Massachusetts Department
of Public Health is no longer able to provide free vaccine to cities and
towns except to those residents who are either un-insured or under-insured
(meaning their health plan will not cover the cost of a flu shot).

The Board of Health has purchased an adequate supply of flu vaccine to make
up for the lesser amount received from the State. *** All persons will be
asked to present an insurance card (most insurance plans welcome) and the
insurance plan will cover the cost of the flu shot ***.

No one will be turned away on the basis of insurance eligibility.

Please remember to wear short sleeves.

If you require additional information please call the Hanover Health Office
at (781) 826-4611 or email health@hanover-ma.gov .

Early voting comes to Hanover!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier is excited to announce that all
registered voters will be able vote before Election Day for the first time
ever in Massachusetts this fall. Early voting will begin on October 24th
and continue through November 4th, 2016. Prior to the enactment of this new
law, the only way a registered voter was allowed to vote prior to Election
Day was through absentee voting. Although absentee voting will still be
available for registered voters who qualify, only those who will be absent
from their city or town on Election Day, or have a disability that prevents
them from going to the polls, or have a religious belief preventing the
same, are legally allowed to vote by absentee ballot.

Unlike absentee voting, early voting is for every registered voter.
Registered voters do not need an excuse or reason to vote early. Regardless
of whether a voter wants to take advantage of early voting, vote absentee
or vote on Election Day, the first step is making sure you are registered.
To check to see if you are registered to vote, and to find information on
how to register to vote, you may visit the Secretary of the
Commonwealth’s website: www.sec.state.ma.us/ele and go to “Am I
Registered to Vote?” If you need to register to vote, you may do so
online by visiting: www.RegisterToVoteMA.com. All you need is a license or
an ID issued by the Registry of Motor Vehicles to apply online. To be
eligible to vote in the November 8th State Election, you must register to
vote or make any necessary changes to your voter registration by October
19th, 2016.

Early voting may be done in person or by mail. In Hanover, early voting may
be accomplished in person at Hanover Town Hall, 550 Hanover Street, during
the two weeks of October 24th – November 4th on: Mondays, Tuesdays and
Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00
p.m., and Fridays from 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon. For the convenience of the
public, Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier has also decided to
offer weekend hours on Saturday, October 29th, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Please note, however, once a voter has cast an early voting ballot, the
voter may no longer vote at the polls on Election Day.

For the first time in Massachusetts, the first choice all voters will make
is which day to vote! Early voting will make the most fundamental right of
our citizens more convenient than ever to exercise. All Hanover residents
are encouraged to exercise that right and take advantage of the opportunity
to vote when their schedules allow.

For more information, contact Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier at (781)
799-8049 or catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov or
meg.coogan@hanover-ma.gov . Or come to Town Hall on the 24th!
