Musical Events at the Bandstand

Welcome to Hanover Day 2009. Please note the schedule of events and entertainment which will take place at the Bandstand.
10:00 AM The Hanover High School Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of HHS Director of Instrumental Music, Paul Ketchen. Mr. Ketchen is completing his second year at the high school and studied music at Syracuse University. He earned his Master’s degree in Music Education from Florida State University.
The Jazz Ensemble is an award winning music group which performs throughout the community. Members include:

10:30 AM Also representative of the amazing music programs at Hanover High School is The Corporation, a men’s a capella group, founded in 2005, under the direction of Alyson Greer. Ms. Greer earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Boston Conservatory and continues to study opera and vocal performance. The Corporation recently performed at the St. Patrick’s Day celebration organized by State Representative Robert Nyman. Members of The Corporation include: Daniel Baldassini,, Tyler Cheo, Graham Clancy, Matthew Crowley, Christopher Guerriero, Alfred Gallinaro & James Hayes
12:00 PM St. Mary’s Life Teen Band
This talented group has been performing every Sunday at the 6 PM Mass at St. Mary’s Church for the past several years.
1:30 PM Hanover’s Got Talent
New to Hanover Day this year, the Hanover Cultural Council is excited to present a variety of very talented people who live in our community
- Musician Paul Carroll, a talented pianist, is a graduate of Hanover High School and participated in its music programs. He performs locally at area nursing homes as well as many other venues. Please visit his website at www.paulcarroll.synthasite.com.
- Political Extinction, new to the Hanover music scene, will perform a set of original and classic rock pieces, with Tyler Cheo on vocals, Alex Sennett on guitar, Lana Sennett of guitar, flute, and vocals, Evan Barger on bass, and Will Connolly on drums.
- Aria Duff is a talented 10 year old who just completed the 4th grade at Cedar School. She loves to sing and most recently performed in the Cedar School Talent Show. She has also performed with the Milton Players in The Music Man, and is currently appearing as Brigitta in The Sound of Music at the Little Theater in Stoughton. Aria also enjoys horse back riding and gymnastics.
- Dance Ensemble
- Colleen Foley is an accomplished singer who has recently graduated from Cedar School. She has been taking voice lessons for two years and also loves to dance. She will be singing “Love Story” by Taylor Swift.
- Ain’t No University is a four pieces progressive rock band originally formed by brothers Joe & Myles Sweeney. The band expanded in 2009 to include longtime friends Will (Big Willy) Connolly and Dave (D-Pow) Powers. The lineup consists of Joe on lead guitar & vocals, Myles on keyboard& vocals, Big Willy on drums, and D-Pow on bass. They will perform “American Girl” by Tom Petty, “Semi Charmed Life” by Third Eye Blind, “Over My Head” by The Fray and several original pieces.
Entertainment continues at 7:00 PM with a concert by the Metropolitan Wind Symphony, arranged by Bandstand Summer Concert Series Coordinator, Paul Ketchen. The concert will be followed by the movie, Wall-E sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department, under the direction of Marc Craig.
The Cultural Council would like to thank the Department of Public Works, the Police Department, the Parks and Recreation Department, the Stetson House, Friends of the John Curtis Library, Boy Scout Troops 1 and 38, and the many organizations and restaurants present today for helping make this event a great success.
