The Girls’ Course at the John Curtis Library

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

This summer, the Friends of the John Curtis Free Library are
excited to bring a new course to town.  Cyndi Denmat, a workshop leader
and parenting consultant (www.raisinggirls.org),
will teach the Girls’ Course each Monday night in July (6:00-7:30
pm) at the John Curtis Library. These classes will help girls between the ages
of 9-11 to prepare for a healthy, strong, and happy womanhood. Girls will learn
about healthy friendships, setting high standards, and valuing themselves and
others. Instruction includes direct and compassionate communication techniques
especially needed in the preteen and teen years. Activities are fun and involve
both drama and art. Cyndi Denmat earned her M.Ed. from Lesley University and is
an adjunct faculty member at Lesley University. She is the founding director of
Empowering Mothers of America, a parenting consulting organization.
Space is limited to 15 girls.  The course fee is $95 for all four
sessions. There are two needs-based scholarships available and a 15% discount
for siblings
. Please contact Tracy Marchetti
(tjmarchetti@comcast.net)
for more information or if you are interested in registering (prepayment is
required).

In six years of coaching, Grant Taylor has never led his Shiloh Eagles to a winning season. After learning that he and his wife Brooke face infertility, Grant discovers that a group of fathers are secretly organizing to have him dismissed as head coach. Devastated by his circumstances, he cries out to God in desperation. When Grant receives a message from an unexpected visitor, he searches for a stronger purpose for his football team. He dares to challenge his players to believe God for the impossible on and off the field.  When faced with unbelievable odds, the Eagles must step up to their greatest test of strength and courage. What transpires is a dynamic story of the fight between faith and fear. “Facing the Giants” is a powerful experience for the whole family inspiring viewers to live with faith, hope, and love! BRING A FRIEND – EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

Head lice info

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Around Town on the Web is ultimately an informational
resource for the people of Hanover.  I received an e-mail from a reader
today that requested more information regarding head lice.  In this, the
season of baseball and softball helmet-sharing and end-of-the-school-year
sleepovers, I thought I would take a minute to provide yet another
informational resource for all of you.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes to look at the
following website:  www.headlice.org
.  Be vigilant with your kids, and don’t hesitate to check them for
head lice.

The tickets are for seats located in Section 11, Box 10, Row L for the game to

American Elm to be dedicated to Janet O’Brien during Art in Bloom at the Stetson House

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Friday, June 19th will be a wonderful night in
Hanover.  The Hanover Garden Club will be sponsoring Art in Bloom at the
Stetson House and all are invited to attend.  This event starts at 6:00 p.m.,
and at 7:30 p.m. there will be a dedication of an American Elm tree to Janet
O’Brien, our former Selectman, State Representative and Town Moderator.
For those of us who knew and loved Jan, this should be a fantastic evening.
One of Jan’s paintings will be featured in the Stetson House, and it will
be accompanied by a floral arrangement by her long time friend Judy
Grecco.   At 7:30 there will  be a brief ceremony for the
dedication and we will hear from Cathy Harder-Bernier, who worked side by side
with Jan, as well as from her friend of many years, Fred Briggs.  Bob
Nyman will close the ceremonies and everyone is invited to make a pass through
the Stetson House to enjoy refreshments and take another look at the art and
arrangements.  Plan to be at the Stetson House early so that we can start
at 7:30 p.m. with the dedication.  We look forward to seeing you
there.
