Hanover Day parking information and map

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

With the kids out of school and the Friday night Music Fest and Hanover Day
line-ups having been announced, the excitement for Hanover Day is becoming
palpable!

Hanover Day is held at B. Everett Hall Playground, next to Sylvester
School, in the center of town. Please see the attached map with the layout
of the venue! Parking is very limited at that address, 495 Hanover Street,
and the classic cars will already be parked there. So, it’s time to plan
your parking strategy.

First, as a reminder, the senior citizen van shuttle begins at 10:00 a.m.
and picks up seniors who are parked at the COA, or residing at Legion,
Barstow, or Cushing housing complexes. See the ATOTW archives for more
details on the van shuttle.

Please note there will be no parking available on Hanover Street or Main
Street. Parking is also not allowed in the Hanover Cemetery or at Center
School. Be sure to follow the Police/DPW posted ‘No Parking’ signs as these
restrictions will be strictly enforced. Lighted signs will direct you to
parking areas in the center of town as evening falls.

Parking for Daytime Events:
Parking is available in town lots including Town Hall, the Council on Aging
and the John Curtis Library, and also Riley Hall and Briggs Stables (enter
at the Briggs’ Main Street Entrance).

Parking for Evening Events:
Hanover Day volunteers are expecting a very large turnout, particularly
Saturday evening for the fireworks. Please plan your arrival accordingly as
there is limited parking in Hanover Center. Below is a list of approved
parking areas for the evening events. Volunteers are thankful to the local
businesses who have made their parking lots available for the event. Please
do not park on residents’ private property and please clean up any trash
that you have so that B. Everett Hall playground and parking lots will be
left clean and neat. Police will be on site to direct traffic.
Saturday Night Parking is available at:
• Hanover Town Hall and the John Curtis Library – 550 and 534 Hanover
Street
• Briggs Stables – Main Street entrance – gates will be open with police
directing traffic
• Riley Hall – 17 Silver Street
• Silver Street – Southbound side only

For more information, please go to www.hanoverday.com .

Let Our Rivers Flow mural dedication at Hanover Crossing

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

You’re invited! The good folks at Hanover Crossing are so excited to
announce the Let Our Rivers Flow mural dedication on Saturday, June 15 from
11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. The event will be held on the “green” at
Hanover Crossing, just outside of the J Crew Factory store. They will have
family-friendly games, prizes and treats for all. Click here to register:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=Dx1iyvuTFGiirVpouy4/GwY9VjzE4HOPss1dkVQ4HdJoqLt7nDOYRqoN783ZLADJ
.

The goal of the North and South Rivers Watershed Association’s Let Our
Rivers Flow campaign is to raise public awareness around the impacts that
dams and other barriers have on our rivers, and the work to restore the
habitats that support river herring and other migratory fish. The mural
depicts the North River and its location at Hanover Crossing highlights the
removal of three dams and two weirs along the Third Herring Brook, which is
just behind the former mall turned Hanover Crossing.

This project has been in the works for six years and NSRWA’s
collaboration with local artists Sally Dean Mello, Cathy McCarthy and Kris
Brennen, along with the staff at Hanover Crossing (
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=MxAXivNa/xykyYN2AQyL0AY9VjzE4LOPss1dkVQ4HdJoqLt7nDNYRqoN783ZLADJ
) has finally brought it to life. It has been truly inspiring to watch the
mural unfold over the last few months. Sally and Cathy are well-established
artists but they brought so much more than artistic talent to this project.
They have been incredibly welcoming, opening their studio to members of the
community to be a part of this project with no art experience required.
Every week brought a new slew of animals or colors or flowers to the mural
and with this came new dimension, movement and meaning.

The mural will be complemented by historical signage detailing the Third
Herring Brook restoration (go here for more details:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=rm7KTrBTr1+8t5OIQc31RQY9VjzE4AOPss1dkVQ4HdJoqLt7nDMIRqoN783ZLADJ
) and removal of the Peterson Pond Dam, as well as benches created from
portions of the old mill grindstone that were salvaged from that site. Talk
about collaboration! During an early meeting with the mural artists, Ed
Callahan from Hanover Crossing mentioned the idea of turning the salvaged
millstones into benches and Sally immediately made the connection to her
colleague and friend, Kris Brennen. Kris found new life in these old stones
and these benches will provide a place for visitors to rest and feel the
history of our rivers.

The good folks at Hanover Crossing and the North and South Rivers Watershed
Association hope you can join the fun on June 15 to celebrate this unique,
multimodal installation. A very big thank you to
