Dear fellow Hanoverians:
DG Eats (www.dgeats.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping
hungry people in need, is excited to announce its new initiative to support
local food pantries on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
Recognizing the growing need for food security in the region, DG Eats was
started in 2023 by a local Hanover High Schooler, Abram (Abe) Dehner. Abe
has always been moved by the fact that not everyone has access to good food
every day. He wants this for everyone because he believes it will empower
more people to lead healthier and fulfilling lives.
Starting with research about nutrition as well as what food distribution
options exist in his own community on the South Shore of Massachusetts, Abe
is now sharing information on the matter, as well as collecting
non-perishable food donations for distribution to partner food pantries in
the region. Local food pantries play a crucial role in providing essential
nutritional assistance to families and individuals struggling with hunger.
“At DG Eats, we are committed to fostering a healthy and vibrant
community,” says Abram Dehner, founder of DG Eats. “Food insecurity is
a serious issue and with the cost of living continuing to rise, more people
in our communities need help to access nutritious meals. Through this new
initiative, I hope to make a positive impact and alleviate hunger for more
families in our local neighborhoods.”
How to donate:
The public is encouraged to donate non-perishable food items to DG Eats.
Here’s how you can help:
• Drop-off Locations: A list of designated drop-off locations and food
pantries around the South Shore is available on the DG Eats website
(www.dgeats.org).
• Organized Food Drives: Businesses, schools, and community organizations
can contact DG Eats to help organize their own food drives.
• Donate monetarily to your chosen food pantry, community garden, food
rescue program or education and advocacy program right on the DG Eats
website (www.dgeats.org ).
Most needed items:
Donations of non-perishable food items with long shelf lives are most
appreciated. These include:
• Canned goods (soups, vegetables, fruits, fish, meat)
• Pasta and rice
• Beans
• Peanut butter
• Canned tuna or salmon
• Dry cereal and oatmeal
• Canned or boxed shelf-stable milk
• Cooking oil
In just the few short months that DG Eats has been operating, Abe has
already seen the generosity of the South Shore community and is grateful as
well as motivated to see how far this effort can go to help. To learn more
about this initiative, visit the DG Eats website (www.dgeats.org) or follow
them on social media for updates and drop-off locations. DG Eats is a 501
(c)(3) non-profit recognized by the IRS. More specifically DG Eats falls
under the 509(a)(2) status according to the IRS. For more information,
