Veteran’s Day and Halloween candy for the troops

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Thank you to the veterans among us.every day, but especially today, as we
commemorate Veteran’s Day. In keeping with today’s holiday, I offer the
following e-mail which came to me from Libby Corbo, the generous soul who
was behind last week’s Halloween candy collection for the troops:

Just thought I would give you an update on the candy collection for the
troops! The response was tremendous – we have collected over 140 POUNDS of
candy! I have ordered 20 boxes from the post office, which we should
easily fill. As soon as I receive the boxes from the post office, Janine
Hardman (my neighbor) and I will pack them full and ship them off. Tuzik
Boston, a local company, has generously offered to ship a few boxes and I’ve
collected almost $75 in donations for shipping from generous individuals.
We have enough donations to ship about 12 boxes. I am still looking for
more donations to defray some of the shipping costs for the remaining candy.
There is now a jar at the John Curtis Library for donations. The Library
staff has been amazing and I am so grateful for their help in collecting the
candy. We have two local soldiers that we are shipping to and are still
looking for names and addresses of local soldiers who would like a package.
Thank you for your assistance – the result was more than I could have ever
hoped for!

If you would like to suggest the name of a Hanover soldier who would like to
receive a box of Hanover Halloween candy, please simply e-mail Libby Corbo
at elizacorbo@hotmail.com .
