BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION ~ Helps raise money for Hanover Schools!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION ~ Helps raise money for Hanover Schools!

Please help the Hanover Parent-Teacher Alliance (HPTA) raise money for
Hanover Schools by clipping and collecting “Box Tops for Education”
found on many popular products including General Mills cereals, Nature
Valley granola bars, Ziploc products, Annie’s products, Papermate office
supplies, Hefty bags and many more.

Box Tops collection containers may be found around town in the Library
(near the Children’s Room entrance) and at the Transfer Station (a metal
mailbox near the cardboard recycling area and a smaller mailbox near
aluminum recycling). Box Tops deposited in these containers are collected
3-4 times a year and added to the collections from Hanover students. The
money raised benefits the children of Hanover Schools. Box Tops may also be
brought into the Center/Sylvester, Cedar and Middle School office or sent
in with a neighborhood student.

Every year the HPTA raises THOUSANDS of dollars with this program! In
2017-18 they collected nearly $8,000! Box Tops are worth $.10 each and it
adds up quickly, especially when everyone helps!

Their first collection drive is happening now and throughout the month of
October, so check your pantry, and drop your Box Tops off now. They also
collect during the months of February and May, but you can clip all year
long!

Money raised helps pay for programs, services and school needs that are not
covered by the regular budget. Funds help offset field trip expenses and
special events for students. Sports equipment, books and games are
purchased. Technology equipment has been invested in and educational
support programs have been made available. Every cent goes toward things
that directly benefit the students of Hanover in grade K-8. Please look for
Box Tops on products you purchase, clip them, place them in a Ziploc baggie
or sealed envelope and deposit them in one of the collection boxes around
town.

THANK YOU FOR CLIPPING AND SUPPORTING HANOVER SCHOOLS!

Opioid Awareness Public Forum

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Opioids: A Clear and Present Danger for All Ages

There will be a public forum to provide an opportunity to listen about and
discuss the clear and present danger of opioids. Parents may not realize
that drug dealers may be having an influence on their children at very
young ages. Seniors may not realize that the pain medications they are
prescribed can create a danger for them, also. Everyone needs to be
educated on this topic. Learn about programs that are in place to help
your loved ones who find themselves in trouble with this terrible epidemic.
Attendees will hear about programs available for those who have lost a
loved one from this terrible danger, and also learn what opioids do to
one’s brain and the effect they can have on controlling respiration and
rate of breathing.

Opioid Awareness Public Forum
Wednesday evening, October 24th
Center School – Cafeteria
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Panel to include – Timothy Cruz, District Attorney; Joseph MacDonald,
County Sheriff, Walter Sweeney, Hanover Police Chief, Cynthia Wyman, Team
Share and Donna White, RN, PHD, Addiction Specialist.

For additional information, please contact: Carol Mattes at
cmattes303@gmail.com .

How to avoid lines at the polls!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Can’t remember if you filled in your census this year? Want to avoid
standing in extra lines at the polls? Not sure if you are registered to
vote? Have you moved recently? Check your voter registration status
before you go! Go to:
https://www.sec.state.ma.us/VoterRegistrationSearch/MyVoterRegStatus.aspx .

After you type in your information, you will be brought to a screen that
will indicate:
1) If you are registered to vote. To register to vote, go to:
https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/ BEFORE Wednesday, 10/17
2) Whether or not you are “Active” or “Inactive”. If you are “Inactive”,
the Town does not have a current census for you. Stop by the Registrar’s
Office in Town Hall THIS WEEK (before Wednesday, 10/17) and turn one in.
You’ll avoid extra lines and a hassle at the polls.
3) Your party enrollment. Even though this is a General Election and there
is only one ballot, you can change your party registration at any time. Go
to: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/ .
4) The address that you are registered to vote at. If you have moved
recently, update your address so you can avoid those extra lines at the
polls. Go to: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR/ .

Hope this information is helpful! Call Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier
at (781) 826-5000 x1079 for more information or e-mail
Catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov or meg.pallotta@hanover-ma.gov .
