Volunteers needed at the HHS library

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Friends of the Hanover High School Library are putting together
the spring 2014 schedule of volunteers. The volunteers monitor the
high school library after school to afford students the opportunity to
use it to study or quietly meet every Monday – Thursday from 2 pm –
4 pm. The group, now in its third year, continues to expand its
volunteer list and is looking for folks that might be interested in
volunteering this Spring for just two hours, either once every other
week, every third week, once a month, or once a semester, in the HHS
Library after school. The schedule is very flexible and the group
includes parents as well as members of the community.

If you have a couple spare hours and would like to spend time
connecting with students and Hanover High School, this is great
opportunity. For more information, please contact Kathi Thomson:
kathi@ktdesigngraphics.com
, Nancy Devlin: jndvln@yahoo.com

Records requests available on-line

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
Town of Hanover’s Town Clerk Cathy Harder-Bernier announced today
that birth, marriage and death certificates may now be requested with
an easy on-line form available on the Town of Hanover’s website.
“This is a small but positive step toward making these important
vital records more easily accessible to busy working families”, said
Harder-Bernier. “Townspeople and former Hanoverians whose records
are here in Hanover will be able to go on-line, download a simple
form, and mail in their request to the Town Clerk’s Office.
Previously, these documents were only obtainable in-person, which
isn’t always easy or practical in today’s society.”
Anyone wishing to take advantage of this new service in the town
simply needs to go to the Town Clerk’s page of the Town of
Hanover’s website, found at: http://www.hanover-ma.gov/town-clerk
and follow the instructions therein. For more information, contact
the Town Clerk’s Office at (781) 826-5000 x1079 or e-mail

Fire Department appointments

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Fire Chief Jeffrey Blanchard and Town Manager Troy Clarkson have
announced that Barbara Stone has been appointed Deputy Chief of the
Hanover Fire Department. Deputy Stone has been serving in an acting
capacity since July of 2011, and recently completed an assessment
center conducted by consultants Morris and McDaniel, Inc.

“Deputy Stone impressed the independent panel chosen to assess all
three candidates. She has proven to be an effective fire officer and
will continue to be a valued asset to the Department,” said Chief
Blanchard.

Deputy Stone has been with the Hanover Fire Department since 1982,
serving as a Call Firefighter, Professional Firefighter, Captain, and
most recently, Provisional Deputy Chief. She lives in Hanover with her
husband Henry and their children Sarah and Chris.

The vacancy caused by the permanent appointment of Deputy Stone has
been filled by Captain Gino DeAcetis. Captain DeAcetis had been
serving as Acting Captain since October of 2011. He has been with the
Hanover Fire Department since 1985. He lives in Hanover with his wife,
Robin and their daughter Alyvia.

“In addition to his many years of experience as a member of the
Hanover Fire Department, he has done an excellent job serving as
Provisional Captain on Group 1 and is certified as an EMT –
Intermediate,” noted Chief Blanchard.

Captain DeAcetis joins Captains Jim Gallagher, Rob Kenney, Jason
Cavallaro and Martin Alfis as departmental supervisors.

“It’s great to see our home-grown professionals rise through the
ranks and assume command positions within the department,” said Town
Manager Troy Clarkson.

Deputy Stone and Captain DeAcetis will be joined by their families at
a badge pinning ceremony on December 18 at 4:00 p.m. at the Hanover
Town Hall. For more information, contact
