Hanover High School’s 7th Annual
Holiday Caroling Fundraiser!!

Are you having a holiday work party or a personal party and need some
entertainment?

Do you need an idea for a gift?

Are you a member of a club that would like some entertainment at your
December meeting?

Looking to spread some holiday cheer to a friend or family member, or
to folks in your neighborhood?

*WHAT: Hanover High School Choral Department* is hosting its 7th
Annual Caroling Fundraiser again this year with short (15-minute)
doorstop visits for $30, or in-door holiday party visits (45-minute)
are $75.

*WHEN: *Fridays and Saturdays
*Fridays:* December 7, 14, 21
*Saturdays:* December 8, 15, 22
/Note: these dates and times are mainly for doorstop visits; party and
nursing home visits may be arranged on alternate dates and times
pending availability. /

*SUPPORT THE HANOVER HIGH SCHOOL CHORAL MUSIC DEPARTMENT* by
requesting their talented musicians to sing for you and your loved
ones. All donations will directly support the Hanover High School
Choral Music Program throughout the year.

Simply e-mail (preferred) or call the Director of Choral Music, Kate
Bertelli, at Hanover High to set up your appointment. Payment may be
made in advance or at the time of the performance (checks are made
payable to Hanover High School; cash is ok too!).

While all of our doorstop visits are limited to the Hanover area, our
group is available to surrounding communities for extended party
visits, nursing homes, etc., pending student/driver availability.
While this is our first formal announcement, spots are already going
fast, so call for your carolers today and bring a little extra holiday
cheer to your friends and family!

Who Needs a Laugh???
Hanover Youth Hockey Association is hosting their premiere fundraising
event, “Comedy Night at Quan’s Kitchen”, on Thursday November 29th
from 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. The night will feature three fantastic
comedians, a delicious free buffet, a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction
and more!!

All proceeds go directly back to HYHA in order provide a fun and
affordable youth hockey program for the town of Hanover. For more

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
The Hanover Newcomers Club is holding their 16th Annual Holiday Gift
Show this Sunday, November 18th from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Gift
Show will be held at a*/ new location/* this year, Hanover High
School, located at 287 Cedar Street. They have 80 vendors who will be
displaying everything from home decor, food gifts, holiday greenery,
children’s items, pet items, jewelry, pottery and more. They know you
will find wonderful gift items for everyone on your list, and maybe a
few things for yourself, too!

Free shopping bags will be handed out to the first 100 customers and
you can enjoy a musical performance by */Just Harry – an ensemble of
one/* who will be playing all day for the entertainment of all their
shoppers. Visit, like and share our Facebook page (Hanover Newcomers
Holiday Gift Show) for details about some of the vendors who will be
in attendance.
In addition to all the wonderful gift items, come support several
Hanover Girl Scout Troops who will be selling pizza, cupcakes, popcorn
and other refreshments to shoppers and vendors during the show. The
Hanover High School Swim Team will be selling towels and the Cedar
School PTA will be selling winter hats to raise money, also.

Admission to the Gift Show is $2.00; children and seniors are $1.00.
Proceeds from this event help support Hanover Newcomers Club’s
community service efforts, including helping Hanover families in need
at the holidays, their annual St. Patrick’s Day luncheon for the
seniors, scholarships and other community services.

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
Leave it to Hanover residents in general and “Around Town on the
Web” recipients in particular to find a way to step up to the plate
when folks are in need! The following e-mail comes from Hanover
resident Jeannie Murphy…a genuinely good soul…

“We are organizing an area for Hanover residents to drop off
donations for the people who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy. I
know that there are a lot of people out there that want to help but
don’t know what to do. I just can’t sit back and look at the pictures
of devastation and listen to the stories on the news. We will be
filling a truck of all of the donations and will be driving them down
to Sea Bright, NJ.

We are accepting donations until THIS Friday, 11/16th. Anyone can drop
off the donations to our house at 164 Laurie Lane and leave them on
the farmer’s porch (in case it rains).

Here is a list of the needed items:

Clothing – NEW
Winter jackets
Socks – kids and adults
Women’s/men’s/kid’s underwear
Kids and adult fleece tops
Thermal underwear
Bed liners
Wool and fleece blankets
Boots/slippers
Gloves, scarves, hats

Hanover’s ecumenical Thanksgiving service will be held at First
Congregational Church on Monday, November 19th at 7:15 p.m. The
collection will benefit the Hanover Food Pantry. Those interested in
singing in the combined choir should arrive at 6:30 for rehearsal. A

Hanover United Soccer Club and Hanover Youth Soccer are running a food
drive for the Hanover Food Pantry. The food drive is this Saturday,
November 10th and there will be stations set up at the following
fields and times for drop off:
Middle School – 11:00 a.m. – 1:45 p.m.
Myrtle Street/Ceurvels Field – 7:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
Center School – 9:45 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.
High School – 7:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.
They are asking for donations of nonperishable foods along with

For the past 11 years, I have been buying delicious and fresh-picked
Florida oranges, tangelos and grapefruit from various musical
babysitters and talented singing and instrument-playing neighbors. The
Hanover High School Music Department has been sponsoring this
fundraiser for their music programs all these years, and as the parent
of a singing sophomore, I am delighted to once again be the “Around
Town on the Web” liaison to the fruit sale!

If you have not already purchased oranges, grapefruit or tangelos from
your local music kid, please print out this e-mail, indicate clearly
what you would like to order, enclose a check payable to /Hanover High
School/ and mail it to: Cathy Harder-Bernier, c/o Hanover High School,
287 Cedar Street. (If it is easier for you to drop your order and
check to my house, that’s fine, too.) Your order must include the
following information: Your full name, street address, e-mail address,
phone number, type of fruit, size of box, number of boxes, cost per
box, total for your order, and the check.

The sale will go through Tuesday, November 13th. All orders *must* be
received at the high school by *November 13th*. Make sure it gets in
the mail by Sunday night! The estimated delivery day this year is
Friday, November 30th. We will not confirm the final delivery date
until just before Thanksgiving!

All fruit will be delivered within 2 days of being picked. My daughter
and I met a lot of great music supporters around town this way last
year! The fruit will be coated with wax to seal in freshness. If the
fruit is kept in a cool place, it will last up to 45 days.

This fundraiser is intended to benefit all music students at Hanover
High School. All funds raised will directly go to support the HHS
Music Department in its travels this year, including the Performance
Tour to Washington, D.C.!
