The Hanover Board of Health is seeking volunteers! Please respond by
Monday, December 7th @ 4:00 p.m.

The Hanover Board of Health is once again making plans to provide the H1N1

As before, there are many, many areas in which we will require assistance,
including:

Nurses – Needed in a variety of areas:

Board of Health’s physician of record,

which provide the standards for H1N1 vaccination.

Support Staff – Needed in a variety of areas:

1. Greeters

2. Runners

3. Registration

This is the second in a series of Clinics, and the need for help will remain
constant. Whatever amount of time you can give to this effort will be
appreciated, whether you can assist now or at a later clinic.

If you are willing and able to help, it would mean: Nurses arriving at 9:30
a.m. and Support Staff arriving 10:00 a.m. to receive orientation in the
position you are assigned. Walkie talkie instructions will be provided by
Hanover’s Emergency Agency for those positions requiring communication with
other areas of the Clinic.

Girls Scouts assist animal shelter

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Junior Girl Scout Troop 80843 is working towards earning their Bronze Award
which is the highest award a Junior Girl Scout can earn. This award shows
that the girls have made a commitment to help others by making the world a
better place and to be the best they can be. Troop 80843 has decided to
begin in their community by partnering with the Scituate Animal Shelter to
assist them with their fundraising efforts. As such, they will be at the
Hanover Newcomers Club Holiday Craft Fair at the Hanover Middle School on
Saturday, 12/5 from 9 to 3. They have made brownies in a jar and a special
holiday snack mix in a jar, as well as a few other items. A portion of
these proceeds will be used to support the shelter’s wish list. In
addition, they will also have the 2010 Paw Prints Pet Photo Calendar that
they will be selling on behalf of the Scituate Animal Shelter. All proceeds
from the pet calendars will benefit the homeless animals in the care of the
shelter. Please stop by to support a great cause while picking up some
great gifts for holiday gift-giving, a birthday, new house or just plain old
gift from the heart.

What do the symphony, the food pantry, and readers of ATOTW have in common??!!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Just when we need some good news in town, a local Broadway resident and
businesswoman steps up to the plate to support both the arts and our food
pantry with one bold move. Awesome. Read on.

"I’m a sponsor of the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and would like to donate
10 tickets to people in Hanover. Preference is for Hanover High School
Students in band or choir, however, anyone who loves the symphony is welcome
to contact me.

The tickets are for December 5th at 7:30 p.m. at Thayer Academy. More
information about the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, opportunities for
sponsorship or ticket information can be found at
http://www.atlanticsymphony.org/ .

The tickets normally cost $35. I am asking for a donation to the Hanover
Food Pantry (which they can give me when they pick up their tickets) and a
couple sentences about why they want/should get the tickets and what music
means in their lives."

To express your interest, please contact Loraine Fields directly at
loraine.fields@edwardjones.com or (781) 826-4043.

Town appeals the injunction at the high school

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

On Friday, November 27th, the Town of Hanover filed a "Petition for
Interlocutory Relief" from the injunction issued by the Superior Court on
Friday, November 20th. Specifically, the petition requests that the court
vacate the order for the injunction.

In plain English, this means that the town has appealed the court’s order
that stopped work at the high school. A decision on this appeal should be
made before the end of this week. The petition can be found at
http://atotw.com/files/highschool/REQUEST%20FOR%20INTERLOCUTORY%20REVIEW.PDF
. The memorandum supporting the petition can be found at
http://atotw.com/files/highschool/MEMORANDUM%20OF%20LAW%20IN%20SUPPORT%20OF%
20THE%20PETITION.PDF . I will continue to keep you updated as the
information becomes available to me!

Girl Scout ornaments to benefit the Food Pantry

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

On December 5th, the Hanover Girl Scouts will be selling beautiful handmade
Christmas ornaments for $3 each. Girls from all levels of Girl Scouts made
the ornaments and Daisy Troop 80253 will be at the Hanover Middle School
from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. to sell them. All proceeds will go to the
purchase of food and gift cards for the Hanover Food Pantry. Not only will
you be supporting the Hanover Food Pantry and your local Girl Scouts, but
you will have a one-of-a-kind handmade ornament to give or display this
holiday season! They make great teacher’s gifts and stocking stuffers.

A contact sheet will also be available for people who wish to purchase Girl
Scout cookies to be donated to the food pantry (or purchased for
themselves). Just look for the mini-trees and choose your ornament this
Saturday. Please contact Anne McNamara at mcnamaraanne@comcast.net for more
information.

Senate primary election absentee ballot

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

A Senate primary election in December? If you know it is going to be hard
to squeeze that one in, but still want to exercise your right to vote, now
is the time to get your absentee ballot. Have a college student home for
the weekend? Know that you will not be in town during normal polling hours
on Tuesday, December 8th? Go to
http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/elepdf/absentee_ballot.pdf and download your
absentee ballot application now. You will then have the option of having a
ballot mailed to you or connecting with the town clerk to vote in person at
Town Hall between now and Monday, December 7th at noon.

Santa’s coming to the annual tree lighting!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

There are some traditions in town that just should not be missed, and this
is one of them! I still have a clipping from the Hanover Mariner that
includes a picture of my then 7 month old daughter in Santa’s arms at this
event. Kudos to the Lions for continuing to provide opportunities for
special moments around the holiday season for all to enjoy. Here are the
details:

The Hanover Lions Club will be holding its annual Christmas tree lighting on
Saturday, December 5th in front of the John Curtis Free Library, 534 Hanover
Street. Santa will arrive at 3:45 pm. Hot chocolate and refreshments will
be served. They will also be taking pictures with Santa, and the Hanover
High School band will be playing holiday music.
